Just to add, I checked 2 Android devices on the windows10 laptop, with device manager open they are both recognized with an Android icon,but the Umi is not.  Have managed to turn. USB debugging on the phone, but need to free up storage. Will try upload video.

Be honest to you, you no need switch on USB debugging on devices when you using SPFT as SPFT is MTK flashing tool and using "bypass". Firstly you can completely format your phone on SPFT.  Then you can firstly flash only preloader using Download option on SPFT. When you have this done SPFT should recognise your phone and let you download whole system. But you can flash one by one partition using SPFT. To do this you need use down option and each time only check one box.

At the moment I have no luck with my xp as I have problems with the service pack not new enough,so I am back to my windows 10 laptop. I am trying to side load the ROM with adb. I am in dos and need to use the correct command to push the ROM.

I am afraid that I can't help you with ADB as I was never using this tool.
But with this what I see you can't flash system with ADB, you can only put in OTA zip file which is useless in your case.
But let me know is there any changes.
Last year I was looking for xp service pack 3 and that was real hard to find over Internet but eventually I got and after that everything is fine.

Reply from UMI is that you should flash this ROM with SPFT

They saying that in recovery version is small mistake and should be
ALPS.KK2.MP13.V1.1
Please confirm number and try again.
We don't see any other solution.

After extensive investigation the problem is the emmc . It's fxxxxd . Can it be replaced? Where would I get a replacement EMMC.
