This is the SP Flash Tool release of the
V1.0_20210617 system software
for UMIDIGI A9 Pro 2021 4GB+64GB

Please note, this software release is compatible only with the 2021 edition of UMIDIGI A9 Pro with 4GB RAM

Flash tool operation is recommended to experienced users only. If you are not yet an experienced flash tool user, please carefully read the flash tool tutorial before proceeding, and strictly follow each instruction.

Except if an authorized or responsible expert directly asked you to do that,
never format the flash chip of your device or you instantly lose your warranty!

UMIDIGI A9 Pro receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again. Moreover, flashing with SPFT is the only option to repair (replace) damaged system software.

Changelog:
  • Minor bug fixes and system optimization

FOTA version: UMIDIGI_A9_Pro_64G.R_V1.0_20210313_20210617-1720

SP Flash Tool
Resources:

Flashtool tutorial: http://bit.ly/SPFTguide

ROM: >>> UMIDIGI_A9_Pro_64G-R_V1-0_20210617.rar <<<
Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6771_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other components

VCOM driver: Windows 10 can automatically install it. Please make sure that your Windows is logged in with administrator rights and your computer has a working internet connection when first time connecting your phone.

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMIDIGI A9 Pro if the standard method doesn't work.
It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop
1. Connect your phone to USB.
2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.
3. Press and hold the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.
4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

If you accidentally formatted the flash chip of your phone, visit the following thread:

Kind request from users:
Please report any kind of new issues you experience after installing this update only if you've already flashed this ROM with SP Flash Tool in Firmware Upgrade mode. In rare cases a FOTA update can cause more or less serious malfunctions but that means only the update process went wrong, not a badly developed ROM. An updated stock ROM, especially related to the basic functions will not cause any new issues but will solve some of the existing ones.

I'm having problems updating over the air with my Umidigi A9 Pro.

- The version number of my Umidigi A9 Pro is "UMIDIGI_A9_Pro_64G.R_V1.0_20210520";
- When I go to "Update via Wi-Fi" the version "UMIDIGI_A9_Pro_64G.R_V1.0_20210313_20210520-1729" appears;
- When you click on "Check for updates" the new version appears to download: "UMIDIGI_A9_Pro_64G.R_V1.0_20210313_20210617-1720"

However, after downloading this version, clicking "Update now" and then accepting the prompt that appears on the screen, the bar appears in the 0% state. Right after that, the screen goes off, and the smartphone is restarted.

It happens all the time! It's annoying because the smartphone downloads updates and restarts by itself when I'm not using it.

However, I would like to know if it is possible for me to update using the FLASH tool?

Some curiosities about my Umidigi A9 Pro:

- It came with the factory default Android 10, shortly after it was upgraded to Android 11 version (VIA OTA);
- He received other updates this year via OTA with no issues;
- PS.: I can't tell if my smartphone is the 2021 version of the A9 Pro or if it's another version.

Phone Storage: 64GB;
RAM: 4GB;

Can someone help me?

Hi,

Yes, you have the 2021 version or you couldn't get an Android 11 OTA update.
Yes, you can update with SP Flash Tool, just don't miss to carefully read the flash tool tutorial.

My Umidigi A9 Pro 64GB keeps on restarting on its own after a short while. I just flashed the ROM posted above and it was successful. When I started installing my apps, the phone restarted again. Seems the problem is still there even after flashing the ROM. I will gladly accept any solution?

I have not updated my smartphone to this version. Simply, after a few weeks, the OTA update disappeared. My smartphone is not restarting anymore thanks to this. I noticed that there are some problems displaying some translations in the interface.

I also noticed that the audio volume is too loud, both bluetooth and other modes. Apparently Engineer Mode (*#*#3646633#*#*) is no longer working the Hardware Testing part, which was where I was able to modify the audio values.

There is also a problem with Wi-Fi instability. At certain times of the day, the device loses connection and although the network is activated it cannot connect.

Some problems have been fixed, such as viewing videos on Youtube at 1080p60fps, which used to freeze, now no longer.

Even with the response from the administrator (@bencebacsi), I don't feel safe in updating via FlashTool.

Here's a question, is anyone else having issues with this update?

Hugs!

Hello everyone,

I managed to update my device to this version using FlashTool. I noticed that it is faster and some UI bugs don't occur anymore. But unfortunately the Wi-fi is still giving a lot of trouble! Since the previous version, my A9 Pro's wi-fi has been disconnecting continuously during the course of the day. This is driving me crazy!

No other device I own has this kind of problem. I've already tested resetting the wi-fi settings, disabling anonymous MAC, tinkering with all the settings in developer mode and so far nothing. I tried using another signal, 2.4GHz or 5GHz, but the problem persists.

The only (quick) way to get Wi-Fi working again is to turn Airplane Mode on and off. After that it quickly connects to my wifi. Either in 2.4GHz or 5GHz band.
See the video (https://youtu.be/fyHn4RG0DYo) .

I've already searched for other answers in different forums on the internet, but none of them helped me. Is anyone facing this same type of problem?

Hello guys,

The wi-fi problem in Umidigi A9 Pro, versions V1.0_20210617 and V1.0_20210520, seems to be related to 2.4GHz networks. When I connect to the 5GHz network it is more stable, even over longer distances, where the signal is weak. When I connect to 2.4GHz networks (still most here in Brazil) the signal is unstable, the level fluctuates too much until it drops. This happened to me during the last tests on three routers/modens. I only enabled the 5GHz network in my house and the smartphone doesn't disconnect anymore.

I believe that with this tip you can improve this instability. The smartphone would be perfect, as it is apparently the only thing that is giving problems in this version.

Are you still working on any bug fix releases? @bencebacsi

I haven't given up on you yet, Umidigi, don't give up on me.

Hello people,

For those who are having problems with Umidigi A9 Pro 64GB/4GB on Android 11 versions, I recommend not updating the smartphone. Update only to the latest Android 10 version, in this case, V1.0_20210316 ROM.

All the UI/UX issues, poor translations, unstable wi-fi, notifications that didn't appear, calls that were received and not opened by the Phone app, noises in voice calls, etc... Gone as soon as I used it FlashTool to downgrade to Android version V1.0_20210316.

As an Umidigi user who faced several issues with these updates, I would not advise you to update your smartphones to versions V1.0_20210520 or V1.0_20210617.

A hug to Umidigi who managed to make a smartphone that was already good worse.

Dear Mr. Bencebacsi

Are you all right?

I have an A7 pro 4/64 and I really like this device. I'm not able to buy a new successor with every release.

I'm also very fond of technology and I have a huge desire to learn Android programming. I would like to learn how to customize the operating system and update version 10 to 11 on my device.

I understand that it's not an easy task and I'm very likely to give up trying, due to the complexity of the process. I'm an XDA user and I've been doing a lot of research on ROM customization and modification.

I even managed to unpack the Super partition from the ROM of this device, Umidigi A9 Pro 2021 and get to know its structure. But I haven't dared to make any changes yet.

I believe that the various folders and files must have some connection with each other. It also has scripts with specific hardware configurations. I thought about using the A9 Pro 2021 System partition, customizing and modifying it to use it on my A7 Pro and thus having Android 11 on it.

Could you possibly give me some tips? Tell me what I would have to modify in A9 ROM to adapt to A7?

I saw that the A9 has thermometer, NFC, UFS-type storage, different cameras, among other things, compared to the A7 which has eMMC-type storage, it doesn't have a thermometer or NFC, for example.

I don't want to bother you or give you work. If you can't give any hints or suggestions, that's fine.

I wish you health and success.

Thanks for listening.
