This is the SP Flash Tool + OTA release of the
V1.0_20210405 system software
for UMIDIGI BISON

Flash tool operation is recommended to experienced users only. If you are not yet an experienced flash tool user, please carefully read the flash tool tutorial before proceeding, and strictly follow each instruction.

Except if an authorized or responsible expert directly asked you to do that,
never format the flash chip of your device or you instantly lose your warranty!

UMIDIGI BISON receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again. Moreover, flashing with SPFT is the only option to repair (replace) damaged system software.

Changelog:
  • Minor bug fixes and system optimization

FOTA vesion: UMIDIGI_BISON_V1.0_20210405 or UMIDIGI_BISON_V1.0_20210401 (the two versions are identical)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SP Flash Tool
Resources:

Flashtool tutorial: http://bit.ly/SPFTguide

ROM: >>> UMIDIGI_BISON_V1-0_20210405.rar <<<
Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6771_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other components.
If you get a ''version is incorrect'' error message after flashing the 0405 version, flash this version: UMIDIGI_BISON_V1-0_20210401.rar

VCOM driver: Windows 10 can automatically install it. Please make sure that your Windows is logged in with administrator rights and your computer has a working internet connection when first time connecting your phone.

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMIDIGI BISON if the standard method doesn't work.
It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop
1. Connect your phone to USB.
2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.
3. Press and hold the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.
4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

If you accidentally formatted the flash chip of your phone, visit the following thread: A7, A7S, A7 Pro, A9 Pro, BISON: Repair IMEIs, MEID and Google certificate

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OTA (recovery) update
Manual (local) OTA update method instructions
  • Copy the downloaded .zip file to the internal storage of your phone
  • Go to Settings → About phone → Wireless update
  • Tap the 3-dot menu button in the top right corner and select Local Updates
  • Brows for the ...update.zip file and select it
  • Select INSTALL NOW, then OK in the Warning window. Your phone reboots into recovery, the update gets installed, then your phone boots into Android. Your updated system is ready to use.

Update file for manual OTA update:
>>> UMIDIGI_BISON_V1.0_20210405_update.zip <<<
It can update version 20210224 only

Optional method (in case if the manual OTA update gets stuck): Install from recovery
You need a microSD card (with at least 4GB capacity) installed in your phone!
  • Copy the ...update.zip file to your SD card.
  • Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts. As soon as the boot screen flashes up, release the power button and keep only the vol-up button pressed.
  • In a few seconds, your phone boots into Recovery and you see a lying android figure with an exclamation mark in red triangle on its tummy, and ‘No command’. Release the vol-up button.
  • Press and hold the power and vol-up buttons (in this order) together, then release them (first the vol-up button) to call the recovery menu. Now you can move with both volume buttons, and select an item with the power button.
  • Move to ‘Apply update from SD card’ and select it.
  • On the next screen brows for the update file and select it. The update process will start and needs a few minutes to be finished.
  • After a succcessful installation, you can read the ''Install from SD card complete.'' message and the recovery menu is available again.
  • Select 'Reboot system now'. Alternatively you can perform a factory data reset here by choosing 'Wipe data/factory reset'

Kind request from users:
Please report any kind of new issues you experience after installing this update only if you've already flashed this ROM with SP Flash Tool in Firmware Upgrade mode. In rare cases a FOTA update can cause more or less serious malfunctions but that means only the update process went wrong, not a badly developed ROM. An updated stock ROM, especially related to the basic functions will not cause any new issues but will solve some of the existing ones.

I doubt he updated from EEA version by flashing.
From his picture, he used wireless update but 040 ...

He commented in the EEA thread, so who knows? I also checked the global customer care (after sales) system but nobody there reported this issue. You should have seen that error message only if you updated to the 0405 version before it was available via wireless update. Since I (or anybody else) can not reproduce your issue, I just can recommend you to flash the 0224 version with SPFT, then reboot your phone and let it get fully booted up but do not download the wireless update. Also check the play store for updates, then reboot your phone, and now run the wireless update.

Unfortunatly this Version don´t work with EU-Version of the Bison 2020. Got Error-Message, too.

It would be so wunderful, if the 2020 Version would get Android 11, too. I know that the policy is to sell cheap powerful phones with low software-support.

This is the price we have to pay for cheap price.

At the moment I´m not sure if my next Cell Phone will be a umidigi again.

This is really sad, because I like the Brand Umidigi so much. I´m willed to pay more for the Phone, because the hardware is always good and its money worth.

Please Umidigi. Go the next step to build up a powerful Brand. Don´t stop at this point. This is the wrong policy.

You have to make the existing customers happy. They will tell their frinds about. This is marketing with low costs!

Otherwise, you will only leave burnt earth behind.

I used SP tools and reinstalled from scratch, but " the software version is incorrect" message  appears.
I think the new version is wrongly made.

There's no problem with the new version published here in this thread. Flash again the 0224 version, then let your phone download and install the wireless update of this, 0405 version.

I installed the 0405 version with SP Flash Tools ( Firmware upgrade mode) .
After 1 minites or so, I get a message  "the software version is incorrect ...." with red font.

I reinstalled the 0405 version because upgrading from the 0224 version give me the same message " the software version is incorrect...".

I stitched this version 0405 both wirelessly and via SP_Flash Toll, I don't see any problems. Everything is stitched and the software works fine.

I confirm: on a damaged phone (apparently BISON_1, but I do not sure) I installed a version of UMIDIGI_BISON_v1-0_20201223 (I had this already downloaded), 2x OTA updates and the latest works without problems.

I tried reinstalling the 0224 version and upgraded to the 0405 version but same stupid " the software version is incorrect"  message appears.
I also tried the 20201223 version and 2x Wireless updates but it gave me the same warning after updating to 0405 version.
Any ideas?

Follow up: I installed the first version 1101 and updated to the 0405, but same warning appears only after the 0405 update.
I guess something is wrong with the last update.
