Dear,

Here is a method to Flash M3G ROMs on the Emax mini.

I found this method from XDA forums. I am sharing it but I DO NOT HAVE TESTED IT MYSELF. ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/ ... d-4g-t3204602/page5 )

Thanks pbPACMAN from 4pda & Shandry from xda

Guess what?

I have a bricked phone.

Try this:
  • Hold power button until phone resets and then hold it some more so it turns off
  • Connect phone to USB and immediately hold all 3 buttons.
  • Release buttons after a couple of seconds, and hold volume up
  • Check if download interface is visible in device manager, and if it is, try running the unbrick kit, or flashing a LEWA img via QFIL.

Damn, if TCL discontinued M3G, since TCL gives the ROMs to UMI, we have NO CHANCE to get any ROM...  ...

There are only 2 roms "oficially" published by TCL, one is the 5.0.2 AOSP that we already have and the other one is a LEWA (which is closed-source and owned by Lewa Corporation). Keep in mind that while TCL produces UMI's phones, they are separate companies with a market agreement, and not exactly willing to give each other free stuff. TCL will produce what UMI pays for, no more and no less.
I understand that roms for M3g and eMAX mini are developed independently, according to whatever agreements both companies make. That means that even if TCL stops updating their roms (and they appear to already have stopped), we could still have updates as long as UMI continues to pay for them.
These are all theories, however, and I'd like to hear an official statement regarding these matters.
Edit:
Also, @AlexisTM: the notification LED works out of the box in stock LEWA rom, and after aplying some fixes in other CM-based roms.

I really hope that team Umi will take the firmware development over - because TCL has discontinued the M3G meaning that they don't have much interest in the future of this phone.

I have tested it myself and works, currently have M3G's Mokee installed.
Some additional explanation:
This method comes from the fact that the hardware in M3G and eMAX Mini are exactly the same. When you flash by download mode the LEWA Rom, you are actually "converting" your phone partitioning to that of the M3G, so you *technically* stop having an eMAX Mini.
Another interesting thing is: this is reversible, and also should work for converting M3G to eMAX Mini. I have written a tutorial (in spanish) here: http://www.movilesdualsim.com/te ... oms-tcl-m3g.124812/.

So, as you can see, the hardware of the two models is not exactly the same, since they have different basebands. So, be very careful. To make, then restore a working backup of your original modem is essential. Anyway, the firmware of both phones are developed by TCL.

5. Restore modem backup (QCN) --> is this for the different Basband?

Yes, it is. Without that, your phone won't be able to connect to mobile networks.

Note : They just have to recompile M3G ROMs, almost the same configuration to make them working for the UMI eMax...
