This is the SP Flash Tool + OTA release of the

V3.0_20201213 system software

for

UMIDIGI A7 Pro 64GB

Flash tool operation is recommended to experienced users only. If you are not yet an experienced flash tool user, please carefully read the flash tool tutorial before proceeding, and strictly follow each instruction.

Except if an authorized or responsible expert directly asked you to do that,

never format the flash chip of your device or you instantly lose your warranty!

UMIDIGI A7 Pro receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again. Moreover, flashing with SPFT is the only option to repair (replace) damaged system software.

Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6763_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other components

VCOM driver: Windows 10 can automatically install it. Please make sure that your Windows is logged in with administrator rights and your computer has a working internet connection when first time connecting your phone.

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMIDIGI A7 Pro if the standard method doesn't work.

It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop

1. Connect your UMIDIGI A7 Pro to USB.

2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.

3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.

4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

OTA (recovery) update

Manual (local) OTA update method instructions

• Copy the downloaded .zip file to the internal storage of your phone
• Go to Settings → About phone → Wireless update
• Tap the 3-dot menu button in the top right corner and select Local Updates
• Brows for the ...update.zip file and select it
• Select INSTALL NOW, then OK in the Warning window. Your phone reboots into recovery, the update gets installed, then your phone boots into Android. Your updated system is ready to use.

Optional method (in case if the manual OTA update gets stuck): Install from recovery

You need a microSD card (with at least 4GB capacity) installed in your phone!

• Copy the ...update.zip file to your SD card.
• Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts in the boot selector mode. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less if your phone was already powered off.
• Here you can move with the vol-up button and select an item with vol-down. Select Recovery.
• Your phone boots into Recovery and you see a lying android figure with an exclamation mark in red triangle on its tummy + 'No command'.
• Press and hold the power and vol-up buttons (in this order) together, then release them to call the recovery menu. Now you can move with both volume buttons, and select an item with the power button.
• Move to ‘Apply update from SD card’ and select it.
• On the next screen brows for the update file and select it. The update process will start and needs a few minutes to be finished.
• After a succcessful installation, you can read the ''Install from SD card complete.'' message and the recovery menu is available again.
• Select 'Reboot system now'. Alternatively you can perform a factory data reset here by choosing 'Wipe data/factory reset'
  

Kind request from users:
Please report any kind of new issues you experience after installing this update only if you've already flashed this ROM with SP Flash Tool in Firmware Upgrade mode. In rare cases a FOTA update can cause more or less serious malfunctions but that means only the update process went wrong, not a badly developed ROM. An updated stock ROM, especially related to the basic functions will not cause any new issues but will solve some of the existing ones.

I abandoned the A7 Pro. Unfortunately, the device never served me well. Even though it is a low-cost device, it should serve any user who expects satisfactory basic use of it. But, no satisfactory use provides. Umidigi has to improve the software or, not only use Mediatek in its products. I think this device, which has great cameras in its segment, has a Mediatek P23 and a poorly optimized system. Tired of waiting for updates that solve a good part of the problems, I ended up buying a Galaxy S10 that cost me more, but serves me 100%. The A7 Pro should be a replacement for the Samsung J7 Prime which, despite having a weaker processor and 1 GB less RAM, worked very well.
I am not happy to abandon the A7 Pro. It has basic requirements to be a respectful intermediary, but it has not matured due to the lack of harmony between software and processor.
I hope that in the near future, Umidigi will change its philosophy a little, without increasing its products and be successful in the electronics market.

I upgraded from  April 5, 2020 ROM to UMDIGI_A7 PRO_V3.0-20201213 by the above instructions today, all is good.Small glitch in usb doing upgrade- changed usb ports,download went thru with bootloader looping, all tests good.

EEU has different rules for items sold there ,they insist on certain inclusions and omissions, Microsoft windows media player is an example of omiission-M$ had to remove it as the EEU determined M$ was pushing a monopoly position with it. Just exactly what items are different is in the EEU rules for each item offered to be sold plus the rules are different for members of the EEU vs non members. Another difference not a legal one is Europe uses a tri-band on there phones where as many other countries use a quad band for global or international calling standards. Changes can be subtle-like changing a frequency on a phone by a slight amount to improve connectivity to improve sound to improve video to improve messaging and so forth, if they listed the changes 99.9% of the phones users would be too confused to understand. Changing the frequencies to get centered in the best place for all the electronic items in a phone requires specialized knowledge and specialized equipment the more subtle the change the more sensitive the equipment has to be to detect this change without incorporating errors into the measurements..

Most people are not interested in the technology of the items they use day to day , they simply want them to work and get there monies worth out of them,,  I hope I have not bored you..

I would like to update because the fingerprint sensor fails me a lot.

If you can get the phone started and screen on try a factory reset, If not download the above ROM with the flash tool , follow the instructions to download the New Rom to your phone and uncheck user data to keep your apps ect. if an app has done this then dont uncheck user data and I assume the apps will be wiped and the only the ROM apps will be there when finished.

I think there must be a difference between the European EEA_V3 version and the one that is only V3 ... which must be the Chinese version so it is not available via wifi for this phone
but someone here to clarify if I'm correct

Yes, there is a software difference. the European version for EEA countries and non EEA version for the rest of the Countries.

The exact answer to the differences in versions (EEA vs. Global) could be explained by the manufacturer.
I can only confirm for A5 Pro that there are no differences between the EEA and the Global version.
I use the Global version because the EEA version is no longer supported by the manufacturer and I live in Europe.

Question: What do you consider to be changes?
I do not consider improvements and fixes to be changes.
