This is the SP Flash Tool + OTA release of the
V1.3_20200416 system software
for UMIDIGI Power 3
European version

REJECTED!

Please do not install this update. If you've already installed it, wait for the next update or (if you are familiar with SP flashing), flash the predecessor version in firmware upgrade mode.

Changelog:
  • Loud speaker noise and no-sound issues fixed
  • Minor bug fixes and system optimizations

FOTA version: UMIDIGI_Power_3.E_V1.3_20200416_20200416-0157

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SP Flash Tool
Resources:

Flashtool tutorial: http://bit.ly/SPFTguide

ROM: >>> DELETED <<<
Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6771_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other components

VCOM driver: Windows 10 can automatically install it. Please make sure that your Windows is logged in with administrator rights and your computer has a working internet connection when first time connecting your phone.

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMIDIGI Power 3 if the standard method doesn't work.
It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop
1. Connect your UMIDIGI Power 3 to USB.
2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.
3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.
4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OTA (recovery) update
Manual (local) OTA update method instructions
  • Copy the downloaded .zip file to the internal storage of your phone
  • Go to Settings → System → About phone → Wireless update
  • Tap the 3-dot menu button in the top right corner and select Local Updates
  • Brows for the ...update.zip file and select it
  • Select INSTALL NOW, then OK in the Warning window. Your phone reboots into recovery, the update gets installed, then your phone boots into Android. Your updated system is ready to use.

Update file for manual OTA update:
>>> DELETED <<<
It can update version 20200328 only

Optional method (in case if the manual OTA update gets stuck): Install from recovery
You need a microSD card (with at least 4GB capacity) installed in your phone!
  • Copy the ...update.zip file to your SD card.
  • Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts in the boot selector mode. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less if your phone was already powered off.
  • Here you can move with the vol-up button and select an item with vol-down. Select Recovery.
  • Your phone boots into Recovery. Now you can move with both volume buttons, and select an item with the power button.
  • Move to ‘Apply update from SD card’ and select it.
  • On the next screen brows for the update file and select it. The updating process will start and needs a few minutes to be finished.
  • After a succcessful installation, you can read the ''Install from SD card complete.'' message and the receovery menu is available again.
  • Select 'Reboot system now'. Alternatively you can perform a factory data reset here by choosing 'Wipe data/factory reset'

Kind request from users:
Please report any kind of new issues you experience after installing this update only if you've already flashed this ROM with SP Flash Tool in Firmware Upgrade mode. In rare cases a FOTA update can cause more or less serious malfunctions but that means only the update process went wrong, not a badly developed ROM. An updated stock ROM, especially related to the basic functions will not cause any new issues but will solve some of the existing ones.

This is the first and last Umidigi product I will ever buy. The support for the Power 3 is down right embarrassing. If you cannot support your own products please stop selling them. You cannot launch smart phones and abandon them weeks after launch and also expect repeat customers. The Power 3, on paper, was a great buy. However, now that I have seen how much Umidigi actually cares about support, I regret my decision. Never again.

I was told the updated software would be released end of May. Ha! We are in July now and not only is the software nowhere to be found, Umidigi won't even tell us what the hell is going on. Sad.

I would not hold my breath. It's likely they have already abandoned the phone to work on the Power 4. This company does not support their products. They just keep launching new devices every couple of months. And the very few "updates" that we do get do more harm than good. Clearly no testing is done either. When I first got my Power 3 I was quite happy but now, 5 months later, I regret my decision. Also, being on Dec 2019 security patch is very alarming and you really should not be using an Android that is that out of date. They don't even push security updates (at least not for last 7 months) which should be a big concern to anyone with this phone.

Can we please get some updates @Ben...

This is terrible support. Don't do that either @forse - the phone is the hardware; which is fine. The software is the issue..

If it weren't for me losing my info, and SMS, I'd be flashing to Lineage17 or Arrow 10.. but I can't get the flashing down for the 10 partitions. I have a 'Super.img' and not a 'System.img'.. which with my A3X I couldn't get Lineage17 to flash due to that..

Ben - I know you read these, you delete a lot of my truthful postings. Give some updates on the Power 3 please. You stated that there were improvements in the works coming in the near months.... months ago.. don't leave us with hopeful insights and then no delivery. As I said before, WE are your testers. Hell, most of us could be your development team; but empty promises go an extremely long way in terms of customer base and support. It's time for some answers, and it's time to deliver some degree of level playing field here. You're losing your testing - for every person that is deterred from a phone, that's a lost insight. Now, we did pay. Now, you deliver.

The problem with crackling sound from the speaker is back. This time I havn't found any easy solution. In last update E_V1.2 you just made a phonecall and the speakersound was fine again. This time nothing works. Tried phonecall on different bluetooth devises. Running sound through a couple of devises. Nothing works...... Soundproblem fixed.....I don't think so. Did the automatic OTA update

I did not have an audio problem before this update and don't have one after updating either. I suggest that you all try to a "firmware update" using the tool.

I have tested this some more and it seems that the call audio is shared with normal audio.

You can test this by adjusting the sound sliders one by one while playing audio in a split screen. The quality of the audio changes while changing the call volume (the example sound is always high quality btw).  If I wait for a while, the audio quality changes back to old radio.
