This update fixes the low quality audio on my phone that started with the previous update. I used firmware upgrade with spflash.

Thanks.

It worked when playing an audio file without setting up the phone.

However, the low quality shortwave radio sound returned after setting up my phone manually.

Will test again!

Please keep us posted. Maybe it's triggered by a certain app. I know it went away for me then came back and I just cannot figure out the trigger. But it has been in "short wave audio" mode all day today.

Ok, did a factory reset and the short wave radio sound was still there. Only a full firmware upgrade with spflash (without setting up a user account) made the low quality audio go away.

However, switching from stereo to mono back to stereo in accessibility settings also made the problem go away. This must be some kind of driver issue.

Update:

The mono setting did not work anymore after reset. There seems to be no reliable solution to this from the user side.

With the last update I could swear this worked. Also making a speakerphone call also fixed it.

However with v 1.3, the mono/stereo and speaker phone doesn't fix it anymore. So it's worse with each release.

Yeah, it worked once for me without setting up a user account but with the new firmware.

When I played a game right now and one of those popup ads with sound came on, the audio went back to normal. So yes it is likely the driver and certain audio formats using different bitrates/codecs may be what triggers it to return to normal.

it's weird. when playing a game, there is no audio quality issue..ringtones sounds high quality too. youtube, on the other hand sounds like i'm playing it thru a gramophone. looks like it is affecting certain audio formats in youtube and spotify

The new update (V1.3) makes the speaker sounds terrible (too much treble to my ears). Install VLC and use its Equalizer to get to my taste. It seems that the build-in media player is set to a weird setting, and become worst with Sound-Enhancement on. My 2 cents!
