This is the SP Flash Tool + OTA release of the
V1.3_20200415 system software
for UMIDIGI Power 3

REJECTED!

Please do not install this update. If you've already installed it, wait for the next update or (if you are familiar with SP flashing), flash the predecessor version in firmware upgrade mode.

Changelog:
  • Loud speaker noise and no-sound issues fixed
  • Minor bug fixes and system optimizations

FOTA version: UMIDIGI_Power_3_V1.3_20200415_20200415-1647

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SP Flash Tool
Resources:

Flashtool tutorial: http://bit.ly/SPFTguide

ROM: >>> DELETED <<<
Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6771_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other components

VCOM driver: Windows 10 can automatically install it. Please make sure that your Windows is logged in with administrator rights and your computer has a working internet connection when first time connecting your phone.

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMIDIGI Power 3 if the standard method doesn't work.
It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop
1. Connect your UMIDIGI Power 3 to USB.
2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.
3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.
4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
OTA (recovery) update
Manual (local) OTA update method instructions
  • Copy the downloaded .zip file to the internal storage of your phone
  • Go to Settings → System → About phone → Wireless update
  • Tap the 3-dot menu button in the top right corner and select Local Updates
  • Brows for the ...update.zip file and select it
  • Select INSTALL NOW, then OK in the Warning window. Your phone reboots into recovery, the update gets installed, then your phone boots into Android. Your updated system is ready to use.

Update file for manual OTA update:
>>> DELETED <<<
It can update version 20200328 only

Optional method (in case if the manual OTA update gets stuck): Install from recovery
You need a microSD card (with at least 4GB capacity) installed in your phone!
  • Copy the ...update.zip file to your SD card.
  • Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts in the boot selector mode. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less if your phone was already powered off.
  • Here you can move with the vol-up button and select an item with vol-down. Select Recovery.
  • Your phone boots into Recovery. Now you can move with both volume buttons, and select an item with the power button.
  • Move to ‘Apply update from SD card’ and select it.
  • On the next screen brows for the update file and select it. The updating process will start and needs a few minutes to be finished.
  • After a succcessful installation, you can read the ''Install from SD card complete.'' message and the receovery menu is available again.
  • Select 'Reboot system now'. Alternatively you can perform a factory data reset here by choosing 'Wipe data/factory reset'

Kind request from users:
Please report any kind of new issues you experience after installing this update only if you've already flashed this ROM with SP Flash Tool in Firmware Upgrade mode. In rare cases a FOTA update can cause more or less serious malfunctions but that means only the update process went wrong, not a badly developed ROM. An updated stock ROM, especially related to the basic functions will not cause any new issues but will solve some of the existing ones.

Please keep us posted. Maybe it's triggered by a certain app. I know it went away for me then came ...

Ok, did a factory reset and the short wave radio sound was still there. Only a full firmware upgrade with spflash (without setting up a user account) made the low quality audio go away.

However, switching from stereo to mono back to stereo in accessibility settings also made the problem go away. This must be some kind of driver issue.

Update:

The mono setting did not work anymore after reset. There seems to be no reliable solution to this from the user side.

instead of making new phones, can we get the ones we ALREADY HAVE ISSUES WITH FIXED?!

your loyalty is going to go way down into the ground if these issues are not resolved. don't forget your guinea pigs, A.K.A. the USERS, still have the devices with unresolved issues!!

The sound problem persists after this update. Audio still sounds like absolute garbage out of the speaker. So whatever you claim "fixed" this - DID NOT.

COME ON UMIDIGI!

Please FIX this problem you introduced two updates ago!

Installed this update - fingers crossed that it fixes the horrible audio quality.

Unfortunately MMS on Fido still doesn't work with this update. Hoping Umidigi can soon fix this for Fido users in Canada as we cannot send/receive MMS. This is a real problem for me and with every update I keep hoping this will be resolved.

I have no problem with the notification sound. It sounds good.
The screen does not turn on !!! And in the settings they are on. It is very annoying, because you have to check the device every so often.

Last time factory reset fixed the problem for me, but only for a few hours. I wish I could figure out what triggers the sound problem.

There also seems to be something random that makes it go back to normal. Mine was okay last night and this morning until I applied the new update. Back to garbage again.

Yes UMIDIGI, how many million times do you want us to keep factory reset our phones and lose data??

I've even flashed the full rom with SP Flash Tool...after clean flash i factory reset again...

The sound coming from youtube or spotify is still awful...sounds like an old radio or a 11Khz mp3 file...

Seems like UMIDigi will never learn...what is the use if you have decent hardware but your software is half baked? It seems like the rom has never been tested before release
