i have done the last ota update(02 01 2020) and most of fonction work well . just waiting (if it come ! ) android 10.
it is the firt phone i don't root and use as it come...

I'm happy to see users who are happy with this model. I have the latest update (E_v1.6_20200102) and my phone works normally. I got a type of launcher (from ornan) from Microsoft and this phone - a finished cannon at a very good price.
There is an unofficial version of the A 10 for this phone, but I'll wait.

I purchased a UMIDIGI A5 PRO on Dec.03 2019  through the  Aliexpress store, I received on 31.dec.19
After five days of use, device totally stopped responding, just black screen, won't power on, no sign of life, I tried to charge it for whole night( no battery icon appearing during charging), tried different charges and cables but no result! No response when it is plugged into a PC I tried to hold the power button for more than 30 seconds( also together with volume up button) but still nothing I think it’s dead
Any advice how can I start it?
is this a hardware or software problem?
do you have solution for this situation?

Hi. I had some of the problems you had (play not starting,getting suck in setup "gathering info) and when I got it to run after loads of retries it always ended in a freeze.

My hardware simply was broken. I returned the phone and after got a new one (very slow but good service from DX.com (they even payed my shipping costs!)) I am now super happy with my phone.

The thing is . If it is a hardware failure there is usually not much you can do. You can keep trying and stay upset!.

Only in a few cases they can find a workarround.
I noticed that if I use a 3rd party camera app I have a huge yello wish circle if I take a picture of a fullscreen white wall. But With the default app it is not there. But the default app is much slower than other apps so  I suspect they use a real time filter to correct the yellow circle.  Which is okay I gues the 3rd party apps do not support the wideangle cam anyway.

The only thing I really have a problem with is that the camera app CANNOT SAVE TO SDCARD!. The internal storage is pretty limited but for the price really good. I have a 128GB sdcard and I have to move the photos by hand every so often. That I find really stupid.

Oh and there is someting weird with my attenna's. Sometimes wifi at home is really horrible for no reason and like 2 meters from the acces point  and other devices have no issue at all. Disabeling GPS and bluetooth seems to fix that. A few hour later it is fine again. It feels like some hardware bug with power to antenna's or something.
