European Version

Flash tool operation is recommended to experienced users only. If you are not yet an experienced flash tool user, please carefully read the flash tool tutorial before proceeding, and strictly follow each instruction.

Except if an authorized or responsible expert directly asked you to do that,

never format the flash chip of your device or you instantly lose your warranty!

UMIDIGI A5 Pro receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again. Moreover, flashing with SPFT is the only option to repair (replace) damaged system software.

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMIDIGI A5 Pro if the standard method doesn't work.

It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop

1. Connect your UMIDIGI A5 Pro to USB.

2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.

3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.

4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

OTA (recovery) update

Manual (local) OTA update method instructions

• Copy the downloaded .zip file to the internal storage of your phone
• Go to Settings → System → Advanced → About phone → Wireless update
• Tap the 3-dot menu button in the top right corner and select Local Updates
• Brows for the ...update.zip file and select it
• Select INSTALL NOW, then OK in the Warning window. Your phone reboots into recovery, the update gets installed, then your phone boots into Android. Your updated system is ready to use.

Optional method (in case if the manual OTA update gets stuck): Install from recovery

You need a microSD card (with at least 4GB capacity) installed in your phone!

• Copy the ...update.zip file to your SD card.
• Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts in the boot selector mode. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less if your phone was already powered off.
• Here you can move with the vol-up button and select an item with vol-down. Select Recovery.
• Your phone boots into Recovery and you see a lying android figure with an exclamation mark in red triangle on its tummy + 'No command'.
• Press and hold the power and vol-up buttons (in this order) together, then release them to call the recovery menu. Now you can move with both volume buttons, and select an item with the power button.
• Move to ‘Apply update from SD card’ and select it.
• On the next screen brows for the update file and select it. The updating process will start and needs a few minutes to be finished.
• After a succcessful installation you can read the ''Install from SD card complete.'' message and the receovery menu is available again.
• Select 'Reboot system now'. Alternatively you can perform a factory data reset here by choosing 'Wipe data/factory reset'
  

Kind request from users:
Please report any kind of new issues you experience after installing this update only if you've already flashed this ROM with SP Flash Tool in Firmware Upgrade mode. In rare cases a FOTA update can cause more or less serious malfunctions but that means only the update process went wrong, not a badly developed ROM. An updated stock ROM, especially related to the basic functions will not cause any new issues but will solve some of the existing ones.

I note that on this forum the questions remain unanswered !!!
I wonder if the manufacturer is looking at the anomalies that buyers are experiencing. But i think not !!!

1 - The app for taking photos has still disappeared from the list of applications. It is no longer installed on the device.
2 - many applications crash regularly (with sending error reports for some). Restarting doesn't solve anything.

I guess the hard part of my device is faulty. The memory is certainly faulty. I can't prove it. But I am convinced of that.

How can we reach the support of the manufacturer?
What is the procedure for sending the device back to the manufacturer?

If I find the address of the manager of the sales department, I would make it my duty to send him this very bad smartphone.
If I can't find his address, I'm definitely going to destroy that smartphone that's destroying my life!

I wonder if other people who notice anomalies with this type A5PRO have obtained answers and solutions to use their smartphone serenely?

I will do my best to make sure that none of my friends buy a device from this manufacturer.

hello ! i have promise i never buy a umi after the first one : UMI ROME... but i have buy this one and i am satisfied for a very correct price.
i have done the last ota update(02 01 2020) and most of fonction work well . just waiting (if it come ! ) android 10.
it is the firt phone i don't root and use as it come...

Yes, the brightness slider in the A5 Pro rom has issue. I use the one that's on the Microsoft Launcher have a correct brightness setting.

I record 2 problems that have appeared. Brightness adjustment problem and automatic Turning night mode on / off according to sunset and sunrise.

The brightness setting has a small luminance range, but it is too bright in low light conditions. From 0 - 50% of the display illumination the difference is very small.
Night mode depends on sunrise and sunset only when the position is on. If my position is off, the mode will not turn on or off. I have to do this every day, turn on the position at least for a while. I think that night mode should remember my location permanently. If I’m traveling, I’ll update my location when I change my time zone.

Hello, I have a problem with Contacts. I have updated this firmware and make a reset of the phone. I was adding contact list from my old phone and everything was ok. After some days I can't remove my contact yet. I was stopped synchronisation of the google account contacts.

Is it possible that when it make a backup to the google drive I can't delete contact? This is message: This contact is read only.

It can't be deleted, but you can hide it. What is the reason? How to decide this problem?

Sincerely, i can't connect my a5 pro to pc, my pc does not recognize it despite the driver installed, and it also doesn't make me a wireless update, please for advice.
