This is the SP Flash Tool + OTA release of the
V1.5_20191205 system software
for UMIDIGI A5 Pro


Flash tool operation is recommended to experienced users only. If you are not yet an experienced flash tool user, please carefully read the flash tool tutorial before proceeding, and strictly follow each instruction.

Except if an authorized or responsible expert directly asked you to do that,
never format the flash chip of your device or you instantly lose your warranty!

UMIDIGI A5 Pro receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again. Moreover, flashing with SPFT is the only option to repair (replace) damaged system software.

Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6765_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other components


VCOM driver: Windows 10 already automatically can install it (if your computer is connected to the internet) or you can use this: MTK_Driver_Auto_Installer_SP_Drivers_20160804.exe


Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMIDIGI A5 Pro if the standard method doesn't work.
It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop
1. Connect your UMIDIGI A5 Pro to USB.
2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.
3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.
4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

OTA (recovery) update
Manual (local) OTA update method instructions
  • Copy the downloaded .zip file to the internal storage of your phone
  • Go to Settings → System → Advanced → About phone → Wireless update
  • Tap the 3-dot menu button in the top right corner and select Local Updates
  • Brows for the ...update.zip file and select it
  • Select INSTALL NOW, then OK in the Warning window. Your phone reboots into recovery, the update gets installed, then your phone boots into Android. Your updated system is ready to use.

Update file for manual OTA update:

It can update version 20191009 only

Optional method (in case if the manual OTA update gets stuck): Install from recovery
You need a microSD card (with at least 4GB capacity) installed in your phone!
  • Copy the ...update.zip file to your SD card.
  • Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts in the boot selector mode. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less if your phone was already powered off.
  • Here you can move with the vol-up button and select an item with vol-down. Select Recovery.
  • Your phone boots into Recovery and you see a lying android figure with an exclamation mark in red triangle on its tummy + 'No command'.
  • Press and hold the power and vol-up buttons (in this order) together, then release them to call the recovery menu. Now you can move with both volume buttons, and select an item with the power button.
  • Move to ‘Apply update from SD card’ and select it.
  • On the next screen brows for the update file and select it. The updating process will start and needs a few minutes to be finished.
  • After a succcessful installation you can read the ''Install from SD card complete.'' message and the receovery menu is available again.
  • Select 'Reboot system now'. Alternatively you can perform a factory data reset here by choosing 'Wipe data/factory reset'


Kind request from users:
Please report any kind of new issues you experience after installing this update only if you've already flashed this ROM with SP Flash Tool in Firmware Upgrade mode. In rare cases a FOTA update can cause more or less serious malfunctions but that means only the update process went wrong, not a badly developed ROM. An updated stock ROM, especially related to the basic functions will not cause any new issues but will solve some of the existing ones.

Umidigi A5 Pro is missing the Mode PRO in the camera for manual shutter speed control, for long exposure shots, manual focus, infinity, macro, real ISO control, and HDR enhancement ... these are basic functions that the Umidgi A5 needs much in camera app ... still awaiting these functions ... Best regards.

I have the device rebooting , before and with the new update.
Do I need to reflash with flashtool, or a fresh download and flash from the device itself
I keep this as a spare device, but it could be nuisance ,if used daily.

sooooo... what minor bug fixes and system optimizations did you fix? am i the only person wondering why we don't get any release notes on these updates; other than the very obvious and obnoxious 'bug fixed'? c'mon now.. i'm growing more weary every update with this phone. i know you want us to report any issues after the update but uh.. kinda flying blind here - i don't know what i'm looking for. i may or may not have been one of the people with a buggy A5 or experienced any issues - which i have, but that's beside the point. i also may or may not even use the camera, who knows?! right? please, please issue release notes with the updates coming

by the way - for anyone interested.. when i get these updates, i don't update on the phone.. na. nope.. i download the image from the ROM page, then use the flash tool to wipe (NOT FORMAT) and flash the phone to the newest update.. hasn't given me any issues - and i haven't had any issues follow updates afterwards..


okay - that's my rant for now!

Okay got a bug: while placing a call, the screen goes to sleep (no backlighting) like the proximity sensor is being blocked and cannot access key pad or screen at all. Locking / unlocking does nothing. I have to hold the power button until the phone reboots and then that problem goes temporarily goes away.

also: probably not a bug of any kind - with my T-Mobile Straight Talk BYOP SIM, i can access visual voicemail through an app called 'My Visual Voicemail' via Google Play Store. my A5 supports VVM (visual voicemail) through the Phone app but doesn't seem to connect on its own.. when i run the My VVM app, i'm able to view and delete my voicemails right from that app but cannot from the Phone app. then, after some time having the My VVM app running and connected, the Phone VVM feature kicks in.

probably not a bug like i mentioned above; but puzzling to say the least. this was also apparent with with both of my A3 devices; A3 and the A3 Pro.

and from my previous bug post: this has been intermittent with my device. after the phone connects to the call, the screen just blacks out and cannot access. if i hard reboot the phone (holding power for 15sec.) and try again; the problem is not there. BUT after having the device on for hours, the problem returns.

i will have to say that the phone itself after this update has responded very well. not sure what the guy above was saying about the phones battery, but i haven't noticed any change in dissipation from the battery life. when fully charged, i can get at the very least: 2 days of life. i'm almost never on wifi thanks to my data plan, and have no social media to eat my screen time, and i don't really play games... so - my phone usage may differ quite a bit from most users as far as how much of my time is spent glued to my phone screen. uh - btw there were more advanced settings added to the camera as well.. you need to turn off the anti-shake and the ZSD to view these settings like ISO... anyway, thank you UMIDIGI for the primary choice of my smartphone lineup for years to come!

O meu A5 pro chegou em 11 de dezembro de 2019. Chegou com a bateria totalmente descarregada.
Eu carreguei.
Após o carregamento, fiz as instalações habituais. Começou a apresentar o bugs. atualização solicitada.
Após um dia de uso, solicitou a atualização novamente. E quando foi feito. entrou em loop infinito. A bateria não carrega corretamente
Alguém pode me ajudar?

device is a UMIDIGI A5 Pro with the latest update.  I can not recharge the battery, the device no longer recognizes the charger, charging only works now if you turn off the device, a fixed notification appeared in the notification bar "Charging device connected via USB". Please correct the issue as soon as possible because it is a higher level issue.  The hard reset did not work!  I look forward to correcting the problem, I believe it is a problem in the last update, thank you.
