I have the same problem, and that's after buying the $15 google key and attestation file.

The problem is that Google Play Services is locking down your phone. If you root the device and remove anything Google related, it'll work (not the PIN/Password, though). This means running Android completely out of the Google ecosystem.

You can test this without rooting. If you're in "Airplane Mode" and haven't set a password or pin, it won't lock you out. If you use the phone without ever letting the display turn off, then you can use some google apps while connected to the internet, but this isn't always true.

Solution, buy a new phone. I went with repairing a Pixel 3xl, shinny new

I had tried different fingers before and I'm able to set up the fingerprint for any finger with no problems and it works for a few hours or a day. After that it just stops working...

Recently, I've asked a friend to set up his fingerprint on and the result was the same. It worked well at the beginning but stopped working the day after.

I already have the latest ROM. Can I still flash it with SPFT in firmware upgrade mode? Since it's done on upgrade mode I won't loose my data, right?

Yes, if you flash in firmware upgrade mode, you'll lose your user data, your phone will start with its factory settings. That's one of the goals of that flashing process.
Before flashing, if your phone has a screen protector installed (even the stock screen protector), remove it and test the fingerprint scanner again.

OK.. I thought I would be like an update... I will try and remove the screen protector and if it doesn't work, I will flash it again, but I'll take some time to backup everything.
