This is the SP Flash Tool + OTA release of the

V1.5_20191008 system software

for UMIDIGI A5 Pro

European Version

Flash tool operation is recommended to experienced users only. If you are not yet an experienced flash tool user, please carefully read the flash tool tutorial before proceeding, and strictly follow each instruction.

Except if an authorized or responsible expert directly asked you to do that,

never format the flash chip of your device or you instantly lose your warranty!

UMIDIGI A5 Pro receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again. Moreover, flashing with SPFT is the only option to repair (replace) damaged system software.

Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6765_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other components

VCOM driver: Windows 10 already automatically can install it (if your computer is connected to the internet) or you can use this: MTK_Driver_Auto_Installer_SP_Drivers_20160804.exe

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMIDIGI A5 Pro if the standard method doesn't work.

It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop

1. Connect your UMIDIGI A5 Pro to USB.

2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.

3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.

4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

OTA (recovery) update

Manual (local) OTA update method instructions

• Copy the downloaded .zip file to the internal storage of your phone
• Go to Settings → System → Advanced → About phone → Wireless update
• Tap the 3-dot menu button in the top right corner and select Local Updates
• Brows for the ...update.zip file and select it
• Select INSTALL NOW, then OK in the Warning window. Your phone reboots into recovery, the update gets installed, then your phone boots into Android. Your updated system is ready to use.

Optional method (in case if the manual OTA update gets stuck): Install from recovery

You need a microSD card (with at least 4GB capacity) installed in your phone!

• Copy the ...update.zip file to your SD card.
• Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts in the boot selector mode. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less if your phone was already powered off.
• Here you can move with the vol-up button and select an item with vol-down. Select Recovery.
• Your phone boots into Recovery and you see a lying android figure with an exclamation mark in red triangle on its tummy + 'No command'.
• Press and hold the power and vol-up buttons (in this order) together, then release them to call the recovery menu. Now you can move with both volume buttons, and select an item with the power button.
• Move to ‘Apply update from SD card’ and select it.
• On the next screen brows for the update file and select it. The updating process will start and needs a few minutes to be finished.
• After a succcessful installation you can read the ''Install from SD card complete.'' message and the receovery menu is available again.
• Select 'Reboot system now'. Alternatively you can perform a factory data reset here by choosing 'Wipe data/factory reset'
  

Kind request from users:
Please report any kind of new issues you experience after installing this update only if you've already flashed this ROM with SP Flash Tool in Firmware Upgrade mode. In rare cases a FOTA update can cause more or less serious malfunctions but that means only the update process went wrong, not a badly developed ROM. An updated stock ROM, especially related to the basic functions will not cause any new issues but will solve some of the existing ones.

Dear all,

If someone is interested in trying it (under his/her own responsibility), I verified that Android 10 can be installed in A5 Pro with really good results by using following resources:

However, I finally decided to roll it back to stock due to some app issues and/or warning because of unlocked bootloader (Netflix, internet banking, etc.). Also lost additional cameras in the process (main ones worked fine, though).

Found interesting that some minor bugs I experienced with official ROM were solved after installing Android Q ROM, such as:
- No detail of apps batery usage (shows: battery usage data not available).
- Spotify crashing when trying to open menu for a song (minor but annoying one).- Updated security patch (official is from 2019-06-05).

Anyone from UMIDIGI, could we expect some official ROM with Android Q for UMIDIGI A5 in the near future? Results using non-official resources above looks really promising (100% functional from my perspective), and indicates that most probably small effort would be needed.

I dont want android10.  to many troubles with 9 allready can only get worse and worse.

Btw does any one know how to configure the camera app to save picures on my cd card? The A5 Pro is a great phone for it's price and the 32gn storage is good enough for me to install and run all the apps I use but there is not enough place to store things like photo's movies , music and other data. Thats why I have a 128gb sdcard. To store data but this camera app has no settings (in v1.4 08-29) to change location.

Conducted an experiment on three phones (iPhone, Samsung and Umidigi).
All phones were in sleep mode and were connected to one wifi.
the sent letter to the email the first came to the iPhone after 3 seconds, the second to Samsung - 5 seconds and to umidigi after 4 minutes !!!
On samsung and umidigi built-in mail application gmail.
From electronic wallets applications, notifications come with even greater delay, the delay is from several minutes to a day, it is also noted that some notifications do not come at all.
My friend has the same model of umidigi bought a month earlier and he has exactly the same problem with delayed notifications on the phone.
When the screen is unlocked, then all notifications immediately appear, in the phone, sleep mode disables the full operation of the notification center, which is completely unacceptable and, as can be seen from my experiment, this is not on any other phone.

Hello in this update i have better faster stability on the camera but in lowest light at night now is more darkness and blurry than your before update 1.4 EU version please fix the camera on the dark and give to us the final solution !!!

ola fiz a atualização via ota e depois dela o sensor de proximidade parou de funcionar e tambem as fotos focam como se tivesse tirado com o celular de lado. como faco pra resolver isso?, lembrado sou do brasil e recebi a atualização direto no aparelho.

Hello, no more green light. photo camera apps are running well. The phone turns off and on by it self.
When do you put AI in camera? When put some kind of correction im wide camera to prevent distortion?

Why the phone keeps turning off and on, I have no idea.
If it's a SW error, then re-burn the system. If it does not help, then it will be HW error and ... complaint.
I had experience with Doogee X5 Max, even by burning the system the fault was not fixed, it always froze. Then I returned it.

The camera works well, I am using the pre-installed application and I am satisfied.

I don't know what it means "Call and message bugs fixed", but the sensor's proximity response error when calling is not fixed. It happened to me again today. I had my fingerprint set, but I canceled it. I just want to make a call, the display goes off and cannot be activated. I need to restart my phone. It has been tested repeatedly - 2 times in a row.

Great idea!!!

With this update, the option of recording calls has disappeared and when I am going to take a photo it takes an infinity to focus, the worst is when I want to take a photo of something that is out of focus and I have to find a distant point to return to focus the camera.
