Punch-hole 32MP Selfie Camera, Android 10 and 5150mAh Battery

UMIDIGI today launched its latest budget flagship smartphone UMIDIGI F2, the successor of the company’s hot-selling UMIDIGI F1. The UMIDIGI F2 includes professional-grade 48MP quad rear camera, the same 32MP selfie camera as Huawei’s new premium flagship HUAWEI Mate 30 Pro, 5150mAh battery as well as the latest latest stock Android 10, which makes the F2 a stunning performer in mid-range smartphones.

Pro-Grade Cameras
The biggest difference between the UMIDIGI F2 and the previous F1 is the camera, both front and rear. First and foremost the obvious quad rear camera setup. The UMIDIGI F2 comes with a quad rear camera setup comprised of a 48MP main Camera, 13MP ultra wide angle camera, 5MP macro camera, and 5MP depth sensing Camera. Besides common camera features, it offers new night mode to capture better images in low light conditions, ultra wide mode to snap more in one single shot and macro mode to capture the up-close beauty.

Next comes the front camera. The UMIDIGI F2 comes with an industry-leading 32MP selfie camera, which is assumed to be the same flagship sensor found in the newly launched Huawei Mate 30 Pro, the Samsung GD1. It can combine four pixels into one larger pixel for brighter and clearer selfies. In addition to that the F2 users can also use AI beautify to enhance your facial features.

Notchless Big Display
If you’re a fan of notchless and bezel-less design, the UMIDIGI F2 is one of your best choices. The F2 comes with a punch-hole 6.53-inch FHD+ (1080x2340 pixels) display. The hole which houses the 32MP selfie camera is just 4.5mm small and it doesn’t distract at all. The 6.53-inch big display paired with little bezel definitely gives you a more expansive visual experience.

Best Performance Ever in UMIDIGI Smartphones
With 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM, 128GB of UFS 2.1 flash storage, and powered by AI Master MediaTek Helio P70 processor, the UMIDIGI F2 is the most powerful smartphone ever of UMIDIGI. The faster UFS 2.1 flash storage was only available in the premium flagship smartphones and now UMIDIGI brings it to the budget segment. Additionally, the F2 packs a 5,150mAh big battery with 18W fast charge support.

Eye-catching Design
The UMIDIGI F2 comes in 2 colors: Phantom Blue and Midnight Black. Following the industry trends, there’s a curved texture on the back cover when the light hits on it. And thanks to the side-mounted fingerprint sensor, the back cover looks clean and more consistent. You can use 2 SIM cards and Micro-SD card (up to additional 256GB) at the same time due to the triple card slots design.

Newest Stock Android 10 and Other Features
Google just introduced the newest Android 10. As one of the few smartphones to get the new great system, the UMIDIGI F2 is the first Android 10 smartphone that features the 48 quad rear camera. Additionally, the F2 is the first UMIDIGI that supports ‘OK Google’ on locked screen, and you can activate your Google assistant more conveniently. And the phone also supports multi-function NFC and global bands as well as dual 4G LTE.

Price, Global Sale Date and Giveaway
The UMIDIGI F2 global sale will start on October 14 on AliExpress. The price is yet to be known but the price tag is expected under US$300 since the previous UMIDIGI F1 is around US$200. You can add the F2 to cart now at UMIDIGI AliExpress official store in case you miss the discounted open sale price on October 14.

Lastly, in order to improve the user experience, UMIDIGI is running a big giveaway to recruit 10 trial users for UMIDIGI F2. You can check out all the details about the F2 and join the giveaway on their official website.

It gives you a great feeling when your phone that you bought less than six months ago and which was a brand spanking new model back then, now seems like old garbage. At least as far as support for it is concerned. I don't see many more updates coming in the future. With regard to sustainability there should not be a new model every half a year.

Ah, yes, and I hope the F2's camera app lives up to the expectations towards a 48MP sensor, because the F1's current app is a disgrace.

UMIDIGI F2 is a great phone for the price but is not supported by the VERIZON OR SPRINT networks.   Just received F2 and data is not functioning on Verizon network.   IMEI checks with both Verizon and Sprint websites confrim they are not supporting the F2 phones.   Even though UMIDIGI states the global F2 phone will work with any Mobile Network carrier beware that carrier may not have the F2 on their list of approved Bring Your Own Phone.  Buyer please beware that if you have your mind set on VERIZON or SPRINT you will be in for a dissapointment with the F2.   It looks like only options with carriers in the USA for the phone to fully function properly will be with ATT or T-Mobile.

Comments

I can confirm that VERIZON does not support the F2. I was able to send and receive SMS, send and receive data, and Initaiate phone calls, but unable to receive calls. Will try T-Mobile tomorrow.  Post time 2020-1-26 05:38

Good luck - they just cancelled the second "tracking number"
This is starting to seem like a ploy to get paid without ever shipping anything.  I ordered on October 14, they cancelled the initial order with an excuse
about the riots in Hong Kong then "reshipped" December 2, and now they've cancelled that one with no reason/excuse. My credit card was charged long ago......

This looks like a fantastic phone, Umidigi is definitely moving in the right direction.
In addition to the great specs (large FHD+ display, huge internal and RAM memory capacities, fast processor, big battery, and seemingly good cameras), I particularly appreciate the side-mounted fingerprint scanner - its position is very convenient for everyday use, compared to a back-mounted one.

However, I do have one question - as the phone doesn't have a notification LED light, have you implemented any other modality to let the user know about pending notifications?

Once again, great product, keep up the good work!

In addition  ...

It will be the same as the S3 Pro, the notification is with sound or vibration or both.

Any <Android Security patch> update guarantee ?
I really hope Umidigi is not another one-shot-deal kind of company.

That's not what I asked.
What I meant is - if we don't see/hear when a new notification arrives, what modality is there to let us know later on that we have a notification? Similar to what a notification LED does, or Always-on-display (AOD).

Not with an IPS display which the F2 has, that is only possible with an AMOLED display. The backlight in IPS screens needs to be on to light pixels. On an AMOLED panel, no backlight is needed and just the needed pixels can be lit, so it isn't such a hit on the battery.

Comments

Yes, I know, I was just explaning to Rafael_Hongaro the kind of functionality I had in mind in my previous post. Personally I find it annoying if an IPS-display phone doesn't have a notification LED.  Post time 2019-9-26 15:19
