After releasing our camera flagships, the UMIDIGI S3 Pro and UMIDIGI F1 Play and our battery beast UMIDIGI Power, UMIDIGI launched an activity page with a huge giveaway for the new entry-level phone, the UMIDIGI A5 Pro, saying its goal is to shock the smartphone market by making quality camera smartphone affordable for everyone. And UMIDIGI CEO Jonny told on his Facebook page that once the UMIDIGI A5 Pro launched, it will be the Xiaomi Redmi 7 killer.

The UMIDIGI A5 Pro will officially launch on 8th May.

UMIDIGI follows the great success of the UMIDIGI A3 and A3 Pro and presents a new device, the UMIDIGI A5 Pro. The UMIDIGI A5 Pro gains a triple sim slot design and great colors, space gray and breathing crystal. What is incredible that the company used a triple camera setup, which supports 120° ultra wide angle and it is normally only found in high priced mobiles. The triple camera setup can help users get great photos in any situation.

The waterdrop notch looks even smaller than the notch we know from other UMIDIGI devices.

Giveaway - Best camera phones in their price tag

Before the announcement of the UMIDIGI A5 Pro, UMIDIGI offers 10 units UMIDIGI A5 Pro for free of its customers the chance to receive a free device to test it and help improve user experience.

UMIDIGI also offers users the chance to get UMIDIGI S3 Pro, F1 Play, Power and A3, 2 units each for free. These smartphones are best camera phone in their price tag. The winners will be chosen via living stream video on UMIDIGI YouTube channel on 20th May at 7AM GMT. You can set a reminder here in order to witness how we choose our winners.

You can join the draw and check out more information about the A5 Pro on the activity page right here.

The A5 Pro seems like a good phone, has great design, but it puzzles me why phone manufacturers sacrifice functionality for esthetics. I mean, yeah, it has the popular tear-drop notch, but because of the notch they had to exclude the notification LED light.
That's a shame, now there's no way to know when a notification arrives. It's the same issue for all of their latest phones, the F1, F1 Play, S3 Pro, and even the One Max.
Personally, I wouldn't mind if a slightly wider notch would be implemented if that means the phone would have a notification LED.

After launch support will be the same as every other UMIDigi phone, none.  Don't get me wrong, I think the price point and the hardware are pretty good, but only purchase a UMIDigi phone if you are happy there is no after sales support.  UMIDigi updates come about slightly less frequently then halley's comet.

I thought the MAC address changing was unlikely but I just rebooted my phone and it did change! That's extremely weird, devices aren't supposed to change MAC addresses on a whim like that.

You should submit a bug report.

I recommend you to step forward and buy a smartwatch to be always notified. For example a UMIDIGI Uwatch that costs only $21.99 now.
The higher screen-to-body ratio and the near to full size status bar is always functional, while a notification LED is just in some special cases.

Thank you for the suggestion, the Uwatch seems nice, but I think I'll pass. Spending another USD20 just to be notified is absurd. The primary function for any phone should be seamless notification, and the lack of a notification LED makes this inconvenient. You're losing a percentage of customers this way.

"Just in some special cases" is definitely an understatement, as it's quite clear that users receive dozens of notifications a day, and shouldn't have to press their Power button or lift their phone to unlock it via fingerprint scanner (because the A5 Pro has a rear-mounted FS) just to see if someone has sent them a message or they have a missed call. This is very damaging to the Power button, and may result in its failure after some time.

In any case, as I said, it's great to have big screens but a 3mm-wider notch that would accommodate a notification LED wouldn't hurt anyone. Also, some phone manufacturers include a notification LED in the phone's chin, maybe that could be a solution.

P.S. As it's clear that MarcinP is no longer active, please pay attention to the user activity under the Umidigi One (Pro) section.
