This is the SP Flash Tool + OTA release of the
V1.2_20190427 system software
for UMIDIGI A3 N
Please flash this ROM only if your current build number is UMIDIGI_A3_N...

Flash tool operation is recommended to experienced users only. If you are not yet an experienced flash tool user, please carefully read the flash tool tutorial before proceeding, and strictly follow each instruction.

Except if an authorized or responsible expert directly asked you to do that,
never format the flash chip of your device or you instantly lose your warranty!

UMIDIGI A3 receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again.

Changelog:
  • Minor bug fixes
  • System optimization

FOTA version: UMIDIGI_A3_N_V1.2_20190427_20190427-1249

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SP Flash Tool
Resources:

Flashtool tutorial: http://bit.ly/SPFTguide

Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6739_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other components

VCOM driver: Windows 10 already automatically can install it (if your computer is connected to the internet) or you can use this: MTK_Driver_Auto_Installer_SP_Drivers_20160804.exe

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMIDIGI A3 if the standard method doesn't work.
It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop
1. Connect your UMIDIGI A3 to USB.
2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.
3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.
4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OTA (recovery) update
Manual (local) OTA update method instructions
  • Copy the downloaded .zip file to the internal storage of your phone
  • Go to Settings --> System --> About phone --> Wireless update
  • Tap the 3-dot menu button in the top right corner and select Local Updates
  • Brows for the ...update.zip file and select it
  • Select INSTALL NOW, then OK in the Warning window. Your phone reboots into recovery, the update gets installed, then your phone boots into Android. Your updated system is ready to use.

Update file for manual OTA update:
It can update version 20190305 only

Optional method (in case if the manual OTA update gets stuck): Install from recovery
You need a microSD card (with at least 4GB capacity) installed in your phone!
  • Copy the ...update.zipfile to your SD card.
  • Press and hold thevolume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts in the bootselector mode. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less if your phone wasalready powered off.
  • Here you can move withthe vol-up button and select an item with vol-down. Select Recovery.
  • Your phone boots intoRecovery and you see a lying android figure with an exclamation mark in redtriangle on its tummy + 'No command'.
  • Press and hold thepower and vol-up buttons (in this order) together, then release them to callthe recovery menu. Now you can move with both volume buttons, and select anitem with the power button.
  • Move to ‘Apply updatefrom SD card’ and select it.
  • On the next screenbrows for the update file and select it. The updating process will start andneeds a few minutes to be finished.
  • After a succcessfulinstallation you can read the ''Install from SD card complete.'' message andthe receovery menu is available again.
  • Select 'Reboot systemnow'. Alternatively you can perform a factory data reset here by choosing 'Wipedata/factory reset'

Kind request from users:
Please report any kind of new issues you experience after installing this update only if you've already flashed this ROM with SP Flash Tool in Firmware Upgrade mode. In rare cases a FOTA update can cause more or less serious malfunctions but that means only the update process went wrong, not a badly developed ROM. An updated stock ROM, especially related to the basic functions will not cause any new issues but will solve some of the existing ones.

Hi bencebacsi, hi all
After the update to the current firmware, my Umidigi A3 as well as the A3_Pro generates a new MAC address with every login into the WLAN. The first three blocks always remain the same. 00:08:22; the other three are always regenerated.
This should be corrected at all costs.

hello! i'm new to these forums. i just recently picked up an A3 standard edition. with only 2GB of ram, this is pretty nice. i don't do any gaming or childish social media so that may be why lol anyway: Alter_Fritz - i'm having the exact same experiences with my WiFi MAC address. if you can; go to your WiFi settings and enable the WiFi scanning. yes, i know this may bring a bit of stress to the battery more so than if disabled - but i have noticed that the MAC stays the same after this is enabled. not too sure if this is the same MAC randomization exhibited by the 8.0 Oreo release. if you search for oreo mac randomization in google, you'll be able to find some info on this. as for right now though, i have my scanning enabled so my work property WiFi can authenticate my phone as we use MAC filtering. this is actually an added step of security by google... in Pie (Android 9.0), this is a feature that you can enable / disable through the developer options. in 8.0 and 8.1 though, this is not able to be found. i've tried several different ways to pinpoint this setting and i cannot. MTK engineer mode spits out 000000000000 for my MAC; when i write a new MAC to the NVRAM it's like i never did anything; still 0's. i wouldn't suggest digging into the phone too much or try and modify this setting. i thought i killed my A3 several times after rooting and changing specific values - TWRP would just loop and loop and loop.. on my last attempt, i had to use the above SP flash tool to revive my A3. i wouldn't worry about it, unless you're trying to hide from the Feds; or if your true MAC has been flagged to be blacklisted somewhere. just a heads up on the rooting: don't. and if you decide to do so; use Magisk and TWRP. regardless of the steps you read - follow the same fastboot commands to unlock oem and flashing. after you root, reflash the stock recovery back to the phone with the rooted rom, relock the oem and flashing, reboot into stock recovery.img, wipe cache, reboot. if anyone wants to take a crack at getting a fully rooted rom with TWRP that doesn't boot-loop after a few reboots, let me know. i'm not able to get past this myself without having the stock recovery. i am not responsible for any damages that may occur by wrongly flashing chipsets.

bencebacsi: do you have any input for rooted A3 (non-pro) roms and TWRP boot looping? delvik and cache wiped every time when rooting before starting the first boot with root rom.

edit: working root - stupid moment about the recovery. leave unlocked..

hi! i'm having difficulty with the 1.3 and 1.4 updates. when i install, the IMEI's disappear.. is that normal? and if so - is there a way to have the update installed and reapply the numbers? just wondering! i didn't know if this was a known issue or maybe i'm doing something wrong. i did not use the SP firmware update tool to apply these updates. i wiped the device and did a download from the SP flash tool - may this be the issue?
