Just to confirm that I also have this problem with the S3 pro. I recalibrated the proximity sensor but this did not help at all.

I have same problem proximity sensor shuts off access to phone, stops me answering calls, stops me ending calls.  Have to hold off button for a long time to reboot phone.  Is there a way to disable sensor so phone can work like it should?  Very frustrating fault, is there anything I can do to fix it?

The proximity sensor can be turned off as follows.
Install the firmware at the link.
Everything works in this ruin, but the proximity sensor is off.
I will continue to look for the full solution if I find it I will share.

Update:
I disassembled the phone and reinforced the proximity sensor with double-sided adhesive, blocking it from any incoming light that could cause an error.
The error has not been resolved, so it is now certain that the error is software, not hardware.
Since this device no longer receives updates, there are two ways left to repair the proximity sensor.
1 / Flashing the firmware from my previous post.
2 / In the accessibility settings, it must be switched on for the power button to end the call.
I have also found the following assembly errors:
The processor does not have any cooling at all, so it may overheat or cause the device to die. I corrected this with a silicone cooler so there is no heat at all.
The mains antenna is small in size, I changed this to a larger one so the field strength is twice as strong as before.
