UMIDIGI Z2 series: Repair IMEIs and Google certificate after full flash format or flashing an incompatible or badly assembled custom ROM
This guide is about how to repair your lost IMEI numbers and Google certificate on UMIDIGI Z2 (original and upgraded), Z2 Special Edition and Z2 Pro with a special version of MediaTek SN Writer tool.
Please note, the Google certificate recovery (Attestation Key) will work only if you have already reactivated your fingerprint scanner. Please visit the Recover dead fingerprint scanner after full flash format thread. If your fingerprint scanner is not yet alive (but you've set an Attestation Key file), you'll get an error message at the end of the flashing process but your new IMEIs and other wireless IDs will be still flashed.
What you need:
- VCOM drivers: Windows 10 already automatically can install it.
- The same version of SP Flash Tool compatible STOCK ROM, that you have installed on your phone downloaded on your PC - Find your device here: http://bit.ly/UmidigiROM
Let's get started step by step (the driver installation process will be skipped in this tutorial)
You have to power off your phone before Step 12.!
1. Extract and open the folder of SN Writer G37, then open the application by double clicking SN Writer.exe.
2. Set ComPort to USB VCOM and Target Type to Smart Phone (as it's shown on the picture below).
3. Click on the System Config button, then select all items that you can see checked below.
You may uncheck everything if your only target is to recover your Google certificate.
4. Load the Modem_1 database file (click on MD1_DB button) located in the stock firmware folder.
Note: You have to use the database files of the same version of ROM that you have installed on your phone!
5. Load the AP database file (click on AP_DB button).
6. Click on Save button.
7. Enable AutoGen as shown on the picture below. (BT and Wifi addresses will be auto generated)
You may ignore this step if you flash only the Attestation Key (Google certificate).
8. Select Key Files and Attestation Key as sown below.
Only if your fingerprint scanner is already recovered with Beanpod Activation tool.
9. Click on the Attestation Key button and brows for your key file, Open it, then OK.
The file name is identical to the first software release of your phone. The same file can be used for any software versions of the same phone model.
10. Click on the Start button.
11. In the pop-up window set your original(!) IMEI_1 and IMEI_2 numbers, then click OK.
This pop-up window will not appear and ignore this paragraph if you flash only the Attestation Key.
12. Connect your (powered off) phone to USB, without pressing any buton.
The writing process will start automatically while your phone is switching into META mode.
Troubleshooting: If the process gets stuck at this point what the screenshot shows above (Start searching kernel...), disconnect the USB cable for a few seconds, then reconnect it and the process will continue. If the flashing process still fails, start again the flashing but leave your phone connected. Press and hold the power button until the flashing process starts, then release it.
13. After the writing process finished, you get the following screen, reporting the successful process, and your phone automatically switches into charging mode.
Now you are DONE and may power on your phone.
Congratulations!
In case of a bad connection, not properly installed drivers, you loaded incompatible DB files or if something other trouble happens, you get the following screen.
Check your USB cable, use another USB port, when the phone switched to META mode, check your Windows device manager to see if a new serial port is correctly installed.
After reboot your phone, check the new IMEI numbers in Settings --> System --> About phone --> Status --> IMEI information.
