Hello, I have a One Max, I live in Italy.
Good phone. I appreciate the screen, the battery duration, price, great wireless charge capability.
But I think that a notification led would have been very useful, and the canmera should be better.

I have some questions:
- why I'm not receiving newer firmware? Now I have UMIDIGI_One_Max.E_V1.0_20181212_20190129-1948
Is there a way to do it?
- why I'm not receiving Android security updates? Now I have patch level 05 October 2018
Is there a way to do it?
- will Umidigi upgrade it to Android 9.0?
- will Umidigi implement a better notch notification management in future firmware? The current one is really odd...
- will Umidigi implement the DISPLAY AMBIENT in order for the screen to turn on in case of notifications? It could fill the gap made by the lack of notification led.

Thanks

Hi Ecto,

The goto here https://community.umidigi.com/fo ... 8594&extra=page%3D1 for the latest ROM. I would recommend a complete flash, as I had issues with the phone after an OTA update.  It means you have to setup the phone as if new again, but seems to be far greater success than OTA.

Not sure about the Security updates, given how much the industry keeps telling us to keep software upto date and install all the latest patches, seems strange we are so far behind (Feb 19 just about to be launched...).
I think I had heard that 9 would be coming, but then I heard that is wasn't a priority, and development had not started, so maybe, maybe not....
Notification has been discussed a lot else where in the forms, and agree, a lot of unused real estate, but I would be surprised if there was changes...
maybe a 3rd party app could do the display notification you desire?

not much help sorry....

Hello,
thanks a lot for your reply.

After a better check it seems like I already have the latest ROM.
Regarding the Android security updates and android 9.0 we will see... I really hope they will come.
Expecially Android 9.0, because I read that it will bring also a lot better notch management as standard.

I still didn't find a 3rd party app able to solve the annoying issue of notch notification management.
But I can share some apps I installed and explain which problems they solved:
- Nova Launcher (not free):
100 times better than the Launcher3, which came as standard and forced me to keep Google widget on the home screen
- Glimpse notification (free):
because I want the screen to turn on when a notification arrives, and do it again every 10 minutes until I read it (considering that we don't have the notification led)
- WPS Office (not free):
best office suite.

Bye

Been using Nova for years and love it, even used in on my S8.  Sign up for the beta program...

Will have a play with Glimpse and see if I like it.

I use O365, so have a license for mobile apps, which is convenient, but I don't really use it much.

I use BlueMail as email client, which is the best I have found.

Hello everybody,
I've noticed a strange behaviour of Security Updates menu inside my One Max.
I attach an image.

When I check  for updates Android says "system is up to date" but actually, as you can see,

the symbol on the left remains orange, and with the exclamation mark!

It seems like Android is aware of new updates but cannot install them...

Any ideas?
Thanks
Bye

yeah, I get the same, I would suspect this is the case as you state, phone can see updates, but cant install them.  The latest Google security patch is 5th Feb 2019, as we are starting to get a long way out of date.. and given how often vendors stress ensuing latest patches/updates are installed, I would have thought these updates where a priority....  But it seems UMI behaviour is focus on the latest phone, and updates for earlier models, stop pretty dam fast!!

So sad to hear that... it's definitely not professional behaviour!
I just sent a notification of bug to Umidigi support through their website support page.
Let's see if I get a reply and explanation...

Thank you for reply guys.
I did flash complete ROM with SPFT(Option - firmware update). I downloaded and use V1.0_20190129 system software
for UMIDIGI One Max E (EU living).
Nothing changed.

Now from time to time I see notification: "an update is available(UMIDIGI ONE MAX E V1.0_20181212_20190129-1948. Click to install."
But after click, nothing is happen. It returns to main menu.

I know what the problem is.

The update works correctly only when the English menu language is used.

My native language = Polish (the update does not work, the problem is identical to yours)

After changing the language to English, the update proceeds correctly.

I hope I helped.

Greetings.
