This is the SP Flash Tool + OTA release of the

V1.0_20181112 system software

for UMIDIGI Z2 Upgraded and Special Edition

Flash tool operation is recommended to experienced users only. If you are not yet an experienced flash tool user, please carefully read the flash tool tutorial before proceeding, and strictly follow each instruction.

Except if an authorized or responsible expert directly asked you to do that,

never format the flash chip of your device or you instantly lose your warranty!

UMIDIGI Z2 Upgraded and Special Edition receive all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again. Moreover, flashing with SPFT is the only option to repair (replace) damaged system software.

The system will show UMIDIGI_Z2_V1.0_20180622 as Build number after this update but the real version is V1.0_20181112.

Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6763_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other components

VCOM driver: Windows 10 already automatically can install it (if your computer is connected to the internet) or you can use this: MTK_Driver_Auto_Installer_SP_Drivers_20160804.exe

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMIDIGI Z2 if the standard method doesn't work.

It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop

1. Connect your UMIDIGI Z2 to USB.

2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.

3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.

4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

OTA (recovery) update

Manual (local) OTA update method instructions

• Copy the downloaded .zip file to the internal memory of your phone
• Go to Settings --> System --> About phone --> Wireless update
• Tap the 3-dot menu button in the top right corner and select Local Updates
• Brows for the ...update.zip file and select it
• Select INSTALL NOW, then OK in the Warning window. Your phone reboots into recovery, the update gets installed, then your phone boots into Android. Your updated system is ready to use.

Optional method (in case if the manual OTA update gets stuck): Install from recovery

You need a microSD card (with at least 4GB capacity) installed in your phone!

• Copy the ...update.zip file to your SD card.
• Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts (the boot screen is displayed), then immeduately release the power button and keep only the vol-up button pressed until your phone boots into recovery. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less if your phone was already powered off.
• Here you can see a lying android figure with an exclamation mark in red triangle on its tummy and 'No command'.
• Press and hold the power and vol-up buttons (in this order) together, then release them to call the recovery menu. Now you can move with the volume buttons and select an item with the power button.
• Move to ‘Apply update from SD card’ and select it.
• On the next screen brows for the update file and select it. The updating process will start and needs a few minutes to be finished.
• After a succcessful installation you can read the ''Install from sdcard complete'' message and the receovery menu is available again.
• Select 'Reboot system now'. Alternatively you can perform a factory data reset here by choosing 'Wipe data/factory reset'
  

Kind request from users:
Please report any kind of new issues you experience after installing this update only if you've already flashed this ROM with SP Flash Tool in Firmware Upgrade mode. In rare cases a FOTA update can cause more or less serious malfunctions but that means only the update process went wrong, not a badly developed ROM. An updated stock ROM, especially related to the basic functions will not cause any new issues but will solve some of the existing ones.

I have an issue regarding one of the updates recently come out, when making a phone call or anything using the inner mic, no sound goes through. Testing each mic separately shows the microphones are working.

Narrowing this down I think its a software issue.

It would be much appreciated if any fix or advice can be given this fix my situation.

helo...i have a problem my phone umidigiz2 ...my microphone not working ...and i try to flash ( 2018111215_g36v63c2k_kw.rar) but not working...
I have tested my phone with whatsapp and aps sond recorde voicemail ... all can send and save sounds ... but to call and google I still can't

hello umidigi support team, nice to meet you, I have read every message from the members of this small forum, and it really seems a bit sad to see that the umidigi team does not respond more than occasionally, I hope to run with better luck than the other, so here my questions
There is a possibility that they add the active screen function in a general way, that is, in some memory I remember a low battery alert on my phone and the screen went on for this warning, but not for other notifications

Thank for the update ! But still not available by OTA on my Z2 Upgraded and the Z2 SE of my wife, hope the update will pop soon

Will you make a Android 9 upgrade for this phone ? If so, you'll make us happy and surely have many sales from my friends, and if you will do it for the Umi One too I will buy one for my brother-in-law.

Very nice update, my phone seems stable and work well.

Will you dev. android Pie on this phone? if yes, when ?

Is there a possibility to dev the double tap to put the screen on ? or just put this feature ?

And maybe a feature to have the percent of the battery in the notch, maybe a feature to unlock ? if there is a was to do so ?

You did a great job on the camera, but i think the Bokeeh mode can still be better. like actually it's not really the best.
And the focus of the camera is also not the best, can be improve but still better than before.

Anyway thanks for your job and i hope you will still dev for this phone !

And i've seen a lot of weird things on youtube and your forum. I have buy the Z2 original on Gearbest. But when i receive the phone and came to your forum i've seen that my original is with a big lens... and actually i'm using this rom for the SE. And i've seen that a lot of youtuber have actually the Z2 and make review with it and has also the big lens. Actually it's really weird, because i've the big lens but i have 6GB ram like the original. and i'm using this rom.
How it is possible ? can you answer this ?

Is only the latest (most recent - UMIDIGI Z2 V1.0_20181112 ROM) ROM applied to the phone?

Or, are all updates, that have been released since my phone was manufactured, applied to the phone?
