Hi all,

After the release of the latest update for the Z2 Original, I had big hopes of a fix for the camera issues I was facing.

Even if my camera app was opening fine (not being the case with other users with hardware problems probably), it continues with the focus problem.

After several attempts and configurations, the only configuration where I could take reasonable photos was deactivating the HDR and setting the scenery mode to automatic. Even with this configuration, if the camera would try a new focus, or if I clicked on the screen to focus on some object, the image would directly become blurry. I must add that only photos of objects really near the phone are not blurred and with good details. If I take a photo of some trees on the other side of the road, blurry it will be…

Well, at least the search on settings don't crash the app, but it's not really a big thing as it was fixed for a month on the Z2 Upgraded and Z2 Pro, so...

I also proposed a change on the display of SIM cards on Roaming because when one of the SIM's was in roaming mode, the Wifi icon wasn't displayed correctly. The solution was.... Not showing the roaming character. Now if I swap SIM's, I need to go check on settings which one is on roaming, so I can deactivate the mobile data.

Finally, they tried to add a cool feature (almost the same as the Asus Zenphone 5Z Navigation Gestures), and, in my opinion, they failed completely. Firstly, having the lines on the bottom of the screen is not very stylish.  Also, I don’t know why they chose a 1 second “long drag” to open recent apps rather than using the right button of the navigation bar, or, at least, give the user the power to configure this feature.

I’ll continue to use the phone for the rest of the week and test the other problems I had (for example, when making skype or Facebook Messenger video calls, where the people on the “other side of the line” can’t hear a thing of what I’m saying) and add here my comments.

Best regards.

I actually like the navigation bars but some customization would be very preferred. Now whenever I make a call my screen goes black and won't turn back on until the call is over. I can't hang up or use the number pad until the other person hangs up . Everything else has been great, have you had this problem?

And the saga continues…

As some of other users already alerted, if you choose to hide the navigation bar, the swipe up isn’t showing back the bar.

But, even if you don't hide your navigation bar on settings, the problem also exists when using apps that hide the navigation bar when executing. I was using the Microsoft Solitaire that hides the navigation bar, and when I tried to exit the app, the swipe up didn’t work.

Workaround: Showing the notification bar also shows the navigation bar.

The only thing I don't like on the navigation gestures is the display of the bars. I don't know, having the access to the inner code of the ROM, why they didn't add the gestures more like the ones present in the Asus Zenphone 5 (they display for example the action you made, but keep the screen without icons).

Until now I don't have problems with the proximity sensor neither making calls. I suppose you already tried to calibrate the proximity sensor (on Settings > Screen > Proximity sensor calibration).

The only problem that remains in my phone is the camera not focusing long distance photos in almost any settings. The only workaround I found was activating the Scenery Mode as setting it to Auto.

My problem was actually just with the Google Phone app! I'm very glad, it updated today and fixed it. I don't think my Z2 has a single actual bug left. my camera seems to do fine but hopefully they can fix the other camera complaints. Have you tried Open Camera?

After the update I tried Umi camera app taking a photo of one road with some cars, and it wouldn't focus... And the problems I have are only with the back camera.

Of course that the all other features are working well, but the camera was the big promise of this phone...

I'll give a try with Open Camera and give my feedback after.

Well... Tried taking photos with Open Camera but no changes...

I think I'm sending back the phone to repair, even if I'm sure that it will be a waste of time...

If you have a glass screen protection pull it off because it hide the proximity sensor.

The mate 10 pro glass screen protector works, does not cover the proximity sensor.
