Really wise design! The front panel is covered with a 2.5D glass charging surface, you can use it as a cosmetic mirror! The wireless charger UMIDIGI Q1 has a full metal unibody design made of aircraft grade aluminum while other brands prefer to use cheap plastic materials. The UMIDIGI Q1 is portable with a diameter of 100mm and thickness of 5mm. It is really slim when compared with other wireless chargers. It features a Type-C input interface and supports 5V 2A/ 9V 2A/ 12V 2A input, 5V 1.65A/ 9V 1.65A output. You also can find an indicator light on the side, which can show blue & red, two colors.

Wireless charger Q1 – comments feedback

I bought my Z2 pro ceramic version because it came with the wireless charger whereas which was sold as an optional extra for the other two versions.

The information would suggest z2 pro can do wireless charging no matter which version we buy.

Intially I found the wireless Q1 operation difficult to manage as it seemed to require a naked phone to be placed in a certain way to trigger the blue light indicating charging in operation.  It could charge the phone for a short duration and the red light could brink suggesting a fault which UMI labels as FOD “metal foreign body state”.   This could occur even the phone has not been disturbed in the charging process.

Another complaint about the Q1 by others is that the high temperature while charging a phone.  I did find both could get hot but the temperature is just average for phone charging in my experience.  Initially I suspect the heat might have generated the FOD error to suspend the charging operation to protect itself.

More recent tests and usages would confirm the phone could be charged without removing its flip casing as it would be inconvenient to strip the phone naked every time to carry out wireless charging.  The blue light has managed to stay on overnight and the phone does manage to get charged 100%.  That prompts me to think the Q1 has no intelligence to stop if there is no fault.  This is to say it can continuously charging forever if I do not remove the fully charged phone away from it.

Normally with the wired charging the phone has the intelligence to stop the USB-C cable from further charging once the battery reaches 100%.  Thus the phone would be nice and cool after an overnight charging.  Q1 cannot do this but keeps on charging the fully charged phone leaving the owner to pick up a hot instead of a cool phone body.  I suppose the charging control has to come from Q1 and it could be difficult to engineer detection of the Z2 pro’s charging state wirelessly to shut down Q1 at the right time.

I wonder other Q1 users have any comment.

I can charge my z2 pro on my Q1 and it never seems to get hot, or even warm really.
I do have an issue that my Q1 continuously blinks 2 red lights and I have to put my phone into it, take it off and put it back on again to get a blue light.  Anyone else have this issue?
has anyone else seen this?
