It is very sad to buy a new mobile phone with so many potentialities and not receive the latest operating system. It is a bad policy, it will end up staining the name of UMIDIGI. UMIDIGI should press the chip producer to get the Oreo 8 for the Midiatek.

Jalormee, Pumahaket
I completely agree with you
This will be my last umi / mediatek device (I also asked for refound to the store because I am not satisfied with this phone)
I simply suggest you to do the same (if you can)
OnePlus / Xiaomi (also new Huawei) have a different policy, they support developers

Well done Umi/Umidigi,now you have a load more disappointed and angry customers.
No update to Oreo is disgraceful after people have spent their hard earned money on
your products.let's be honest here, the hardware is actually OK for the money, but Umi O/S
Is a joke and now no update to Oreo,no security patch updates either is just not good enough.

Actually,Mediatek processors can run android 8/Oreo very well.so the problem with the SDK not being
released is probably because Umidigi wont pay for it.there are plenty of other companies running mediatex processors
that have android Oreo,so over to you umidigi

For example? Last time a user with the same statement linked only a ported, custom (not official) ROM of a still Android 7.0 smartphone, and a future phone, that's not even and maybe won't be available on the market. On kimovil.com Helio P25 and Android 8.0 together result zero match. Each sort of MediaTek SoC has its own SDK, you can't speak generally about MediaTek processors.

It is unfortunate that UMIDIGI's support is unable to give a convincing and reliable explanation of the S2 PRO upgrade situation. With so much dissatisfaction demonstrated by so many customers, it was time for UMIDIGI to take a position on this situation. Any European supplier with the first complaint would take a position because the customer is the one who makes the company survive and grow, the customer can not be without fast support and reliable.

Forget it!  Your suggestions are falling on deaf ears.
There are many other smartphones which are much cheaper and better than UMI S2 'Pro' (completely hilarious to call it 'pro' but anyway).

On Umi os, Again it seems they take proud of not delivering stock os and locking it witg efuse.

I just read the same thing, not only Oreo but got the licensing for LTE/GSM for north America. Wonder if the chip is also a mediatek. I really like the this phone but OS has bugs, and not upgrade to android 8.  Iam looking to move to a samsung or a phone part of the android one program so at least i know that i will get 2 upgrades.

Heck i'll would settle for 7.1 on this phone.
