you state that you had a UMIDIGI S2 .... not S2 Pro, so you are in the wrong section. the camera o ...

I thought the second lens was fake too, but if you try to use bokeh with your finger over it, it gives and error, also, system infro apps show there is a camera. I think there is a camera, its just that for some reason UMIOS, and the basic unofficial ROM DO NOT use it to make the bokeh effect - you are right, it is just a software effect, because you can always see that the area behind the subject is in focus, whereas ina real depth of field bokeh shot, the area behind the subject would be out of focus.

Just to be clear - the second lens definitely does not give the bokeh effect, but I think it is supposed to - there has been some mistake in the programming. Does anyone know if you can get a third party camera app to use the second lens?

that's why i insisted so many times, it is a question of software to implement, in order to create the portrait / bokeh effect like on XIAOMI MIA1 OR ONEPLUS 5T etc.
the lenses are recognized. it's UMIDIGI softwear developers which are lazy and ignorant, in my modest opinion....

Yes, its not 5M, that'll be after software interpolation - a lot of cameras are sold like that... I'm not bothered because all it does is provide a blurred background for the bokeh effect. Dual cameras are a gimmick - the best phones don't have them any more.

Edited by benson at 2018-4-9 05:03 \n\nI tried this apk, which probably doesn't bring the full features of the Google Cam, but it seems to improve a bit the shoots, not by much, but better than nothing, even if I couldn't test it deeply. Let me know if you are able to test it and what your impressions are. If we could enable Camera2 api maybe some improvements could be made.
