Umi Emax started lagging

I have had Umi Emax for just over 3 months .. it has been fine until last week. Now its heats up, lags big time, reboots etc. I noticed its on ROM v05 - I did not update it. Could that be why? I have recommended this phone to friends and one has also purchased it - now I am not sure that was a good idea. Also lollipop was a reason I bought it but no updates yet. Shall I look for another phone???

The lagging is probably caused by a background running app. You should find out which one can be that or you can perform a factory data reset.
With OS Monitor you can check which app uses extraordinary processor time.

I have not installed any new apps in the last month - the phone practically becomes unusable when it starts lagging.
A factory reset is not really a solution is it? Just like ctl-alt-del isn't on windows!!

No, the factory reset will erase all user data giving back the sate of when the phone was just out of box. Even if you haven't installed new apps manually, some user apps might have got installed automatically in the background.

Just to let you know that it was Android system which showed up in OS monitor - I disabled google sync and it has been fine since.

There is no problem here. In the past, I have encountered similar problems while exploring security patrol company in my phone. The option was disabled when I explored the settings. The SD card was automatically saved when I enabled the feature. This will allow it to function properly again. Exploring the settings properly will lead you to it.
