Yes, there was a software update, it's the one that caused all the problems we have now!

I haven't seen the changelog for the first 2018 version ROM, but defininely there's much better performance. Before menus were stuttering like som older Samsung phones. No longer.I have very few issues at the moment. One is the alarm that is a few minutes delayed in the morning (which probably means when the phones been in 'deep sleep' mode). Rather strange, but I can live with that as long as it works, sort of.
Google Play Music takes about 10 seconds to start playing, even when I can see that it's actually playing (seconds are counting). That goes for both Bluetooth connected and internal speaker. Again no big deal.

Other than that no problems so far. Wifi is stable and Bluetooth works as well as on my Nexus 6P.

I don't think it's the same ROM. Try to load the unofficial ROM, if you know how to. Works fine on mine.

Wow. Good to know. I was about to update the ROM but I think I will wait.

I have my original S2 Pro working good with disabled adware apps and with PLAY store replacements (for text messaging, screen lock and themes, etc). No adware, phone working good. I was going to flash the ROM today with the new ROM but I am going to wait after reading about issues especially WIFI.

Many complain about Bluetooth connection problems on Umidigi S2 Pro. I'm just comparing it to my Huawei Nexus 6P phone and it's on par with it regarding stability and range.

I want to be able to load a custom launcher and I can't have that with the official ROM, so I went with the unofficial immediately after I got the phone. It had a lot of lag but that went away with the newest ROM.

No. It's the one I'm using right now. But I didn't have wifi dropouts with the former version either.
Only some issues regarding the alarm and Google Play Music, but nothing I can't live with.
