This is an unofficial SP Flash Tool release of the

V1.0_20180117 Basic Edition (UMI OS V2.0.023)

system software for

UMIDIGI S2 Pro

Flash tool operation is recommended for experienced users only. Do not use it if you cannot understand the whole process!

WARNING!

If you have this version installed on your phone, your warranty might be voided according to your seller's policy! In case of a warranty return, we recommend you to flash an official stock ROM.

If you have this version installed on your phone, OTA updates cannot be installed. Basic Edition version OTA updates will not be provided. You can any time return to an official stock ROM (flashing only the system partition of the same version is enough) to be able to receive factory OTA updates again.

If you flash the Basic Edition version for the first time, it is highly recommended to flash it in Firmware Upgrade mode (your user data will be erased) in order to remove the updates and saved data of the removed apps as well. Later updates can be flashed without the userdata partition.

• GMS certification received
• Camera after-effect bug fixed - no more green photos with flash light
• Improved Face ID unlock (please delete your old face ID after updating and capture it again)
• Wired headset connect/disconnect bug fixed
• Alarm clock bug fixed
• DuraSpeed, 9Apps, News Republic, Property System, 360 Clone and UC Browser apps removed from the system
  

Special features:

• Replacable default launcher (once you set it as default, you must uninstall your custom launcher to be able to use the system launcher again)
• 'My Launcher' launcher replaced by Google Pixel launcher as the system launcher
• Not system-sensitive custom apps have been removed

Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6757_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other components

After flashing this ROM the first boot-up may take longer than normally (up to 5 minutes), please be patient.

VCOM driver: Windows 10 already automatically can install it or you can use this: MTK_Driver_Auto_Installer_SP_Drivers_20160804.exe

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMIDIGI S2 Pro if the standard method doesn't work.

It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop

1. Connect your UMIDIGI S2 Pro to USB.

2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.

3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.

4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

Hi and thanks for this version. Just flashed it. Had to try twice because it failed at 94% during system file download.
Wondering why it erases the whole phone with the 'download only' option? I'll install apps again, but it would be nice to be able to keep the user partition and just upgrade.
Nice to have it ready so soon after official release.
Now let's do some testing.....

Isn't there a problem with vibrations ?

Same for me - the vibration is so light I can't feel phone ringing in my pocket.
Also, I wasn't able to find any configuration for the vibration level, just the 'Also vibrate on calls'.

point being why on earth should we be flashing a "basic" rom that doesn't have OTA so we have to mess about all the time upgrading

just get rid of all the crap and bloatware on the "official" so we can just leave it be.

and why is the multitasking rubbish with 6gb of ram!!!! poor software very very poor software

Hi,
Even in 'download only' mode all partitions are checked as default, so you have to manually uncheck the userdata partition (the last one in the list) to keep your user data untouched.
Meanwhile I fixed the Customization alert issue and the fixed ROM is being uploaded, so I recommend you to download and flash it again as soon as the link will be available again.

Yeah. You're right. I never saw that this phone use more than 2GB of RAM. When it uses around 2GB then apps are cleared from task manager.

Thanks a lot bencabacsi! Your prompt help is invaluable. I was just swearing over the Customization bug and doing factory resettings
Will download again tomorrow and uncheck user data, although it won't matter much this time.

This version really does seem to act much faster. At least when scrolling things. Dunno what they did, but it now acts like a premium phone. Camera bug gone too. Great!
