V1.8_20171017 Basic Edition (UMI OS 2.0)

Flash tool operation is recommended for experienced users only. Do not use it if you cannot understand the whole process!

WARNING!

If you have this version installed on your phone, your warranty might be voided according to your seller's policy! In case of a warranty return, we recommend you to flash an official stock ROM.

If you have this version installed on your phone, OTA updates cannot be installed. Basic Edition version OTA updates will not be provided. You can any time return to an official stuck ROM (flashing only the system partition of the same version is enough) to be able to receive factory OTA updates again.

If you flash the Basic Edition version for the first time, it is highly recommended to flash it in Firmware Upgrade mode (your user data will be erased) in order to remove the updates and saved data of the removed apps as well. Later updates can be flashed without the userdata partition.

Changelog:

• Replacable default launcher (once you set it as default, you must uninstall your custom launcher to be able to use the system launcher again)
• Initiator launcher replaced by Google Pixel launcher as the system launcher
• Stock camera app shutter speed handling fixed
• Not system-sensitive custom apps have been removed

Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6750_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other components

VCOM driver: Windows 10 can automatically install it. Please make sure that your Windows is logged in with administrator rights and your computer has a working internet connection when first time connecting your phone.

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMIDIGI C Note 2 if the standard method doesn't work.

It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop

1. Connect your UMIDIGI C Note 2 to USB.

2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.

3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.

4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

My camera is very dark,  what a problem with my phone?

I've tested it - camera is the same like in 1.8 - dark in low light conditions. I think that this rom will have same problems as 1.8, because this is just clean 1.8. Way better than umi os, but its not solving the problems from 1.8. I've returned camera app from 1.7 on this rom but still have a problem with video on low light. Photo is fixed, but not video. In 1.7 there is also problems in low light when making video. About the camera it needs MAJOR UPDATE, not fix over fix. Even in daylight its pretty bad for the price of the phone. Phones that costs 80-90$ have better cameras. I hope that this will be fixable through some future update ASAP, not only the low light fix. Or at least the pics will become acceptable in daylight, on lowlight I wish only dark fix,can't want more for this price. For the price 130-140$ this is the worst rear camera from chinese phone that I've seen so far this year. Come on umidigi, you are making great phones, put yourselves together and deliver acceptable software support for your devices at least 6 months after releasing a model. So far BIG disappointment from me - c note 2 is great phone suffering from software support and probably /I hope not!/ bad rear camera sensor.

Hi M.MacCurrie,

You did a great job on your own device in the past, congratulations. Basically we've made the same modifications but compiled into a flashable ROM. Each UMI OS based model has received such basic builds in the past few days. Unfortunately this particular model has two specific issues, that you also discovered:
1. Background apps don't get the permission for notifications without the permission management app, so (at least temporarily) we had to keep it.
2. The camera app in the 1.8 version cannot properly handle the camera drivers (compatibility issues), so we had to use the camera app used in v1.7. hopefully the next official update will fix this issue.
So to answer your question, yes, with this build you can get the background app notifications and can use the camera in low light conditions. Well-focused photos are still not ensured in low light conditions.

What about fix for rear camera in low light condition?After 1.8 can't use it anymore. Can't see it on changelog? At least copy it from 1.7 - on 1.7 it was working. This is the most important thing for fixing.

спасибо, but i will need to root it first to be able to use titanium backup? I cannot root it, as i have applications which cannot run on rooted device and hiding root or unrooting device still doesn't allow applications to run...

Just root it and backup all apps that aren't root sensitive and restore them. Those apps that are root sensitive you'll have to do a fresh install after you've restored your other apps and unrooted. Also backup camera 360 app just in case this version's camera is poor.

When I previously debloated v1.8 and removed Permission Management, it messed up all my notifications and apps I needed to have running in background. I would only get notifications when I opened the app, ie Facebook, WhatsApp, outlook, Gmail etc. I'm a bit weary of installing this version for that reason.

The way I have my device setup right now is rather stable. I simply rooted and either removed or disable the system apps mentioned in the OP, except for permission management. I also copied the camera app from v1.7 so my camera works fine.
I had 2 random reboots within the first couple of days after configuring my device, but nothing since. Fingers crossed my device continues to run smoothly. Also, it would be great to see stock android / cyanogenmod for this great device. It's only the firmware that spoils it.
