Never install unannounced firmware that has not been discussed and approved by users.  That is why I came to check here, and that is why my phone is not a brick!

DO NOT INSTALL THE LATEST OFFICIAL OTA UPDATE!!!
Hope someone reads it, my phone is dead, too. What  ...

Yes you are right, hopefully they do look at the forum first before updating. But I would say majority might overlook to refer to the forum before updating because in a way we do give the benefit of the doubt that UMIDIGI knows what they are doing.

I truly understand your stand, but at any point UMIDIGI should test the OTA updates before spreading it out to the market. This is an official  UMIDIGI OTA update that most crytals owners are dying to get to improve the functionality of the device.

Because if no one tried it, we do not know the result of the OTA. Rendering the phone useless of course is not acceptable be it for one or thousands of Crystal owners.

Nah, I totally disagree, that shouldnt have to be case.  Umidigi control their OTA updates (or at least should do) - users should trust that the updates coming through are tested and work.  it creates a very bad user experience if we are expected to come and check the forum everytime our phones tell us an update is available.
Unfortunatley this phone, and Umidigi, have failed in many ways.

I have revived the OTA update this morning but something told me to check the website for change logs and i came across the problem that many of you are facing. So didn't proceed with the update.

Its so sad from the UMIDIGI to release an OTA update without even checking the update if its working or not (lol) its pathetic what kind of alleged promising company dose that seriously?????

Hopefully there will be an official announcement from the company soon with an answer and a solution for the many users who are desperately waiting for a solution.

Very smart comment. Before every OTA always check the forum and wait for the first person who gets a bricked phone and reports it.

Latest update just bricked my  phone.
Stuck in a boot loop.
Before you say you should of checked here first,i assumed that it would be OK as it is an official release from the manufacturer.
That's the reason it does it automatically isn't it ?

I have my Crustal for 5 months now, its an OK smartphone not a high end spec but it ok.

what concerns more is for how long this company will be available for the future especially when they are doing a quick production with semi high end spec phones, i am mentioning this because many of these companies stop to exist after 3 to 5 years and their support vanish even before the announced period. I guess they are not reliable company specially in their OTA updates which they are suppose to be official updates.

I noticed many users mentioned about having a problems with some applications that they force close and its wired since we are talking about simple apps like hangouts, kik, and youtube, i am sure others might have other apps stop working.

As i mentioned earlier hopefully there will be solution, and more commitment from the company to be more active in listning and trying to help users with seriouse problems instead of just a simple announcements and just promising adds.

Aan official apology from the company will be appreciated by all of us.
