This is the SP Flash Tool + OTA release of the

V1.1_20171023 system software

for UMIDIGI Crystal 4GB

This ROM is only for the 4GB version with MT6750T SoC

Flash tool operation is recommended for experienced users only. Do not use it if you cannot understand the whole process!

UMIDIGI Crystal receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again.

Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6750T_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other components

VCOM driver: Windows 10 already automatically can install it or you can use this: MTK_Driver_Auto_Installer_SP_Drivers_20160804.exe

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMIDIGI Crystal if the standard method doesn't work.

It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop

1. Connect your UMIDIGI Crystal to USB.

2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.

3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.

4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

OTA (recovery) update

Manual (local) OTA update method instructions

• Copy the downloaded .zip file to either the internal memory or the SD card of your phone
• Go to Settings --> About phone --> Wireless update
• Tap the 3-dot menu button at the top right corner and select Local updates
• Brows for the ...update.zip file and select it
• Tap Install now, comfirm the process with OK and wait until the process will be finished
  

Update file for manual OTA update: >>>>> UMIDIGI_Crystal_V1.1_20171023_update.zip <<<<< It can update version 170929 only

WARNING! If your device is rooted, first you have to unroot it before performing an OTA update or the update process will fail!

Optional method (in case if the manual OTA update gets stuck): Install from recovery

You need a microSD card (with at least 4GB capacity) installed in your phone!

• Copy the ...update.zip file to your SD card
• Press and hold the volume-up and power buttons together until your phone restarts in recovery mode. It needs about 10 seconds or a little bit less if your phone was already powered off.
• Here you can see a lying android figure with an exclamation mark in red triangle on its tummy and ''No command''.
• Press and hold the power and vol-up buttons (in this order) together, then release them to call the recovery menu. Now you can move with the volume buttons and select an item with the power button.
• Move to ‘Apply update from SD card’ and select it.
• On the next screen brows for the update file and select it. The updating process will start and needs a few minutes to be finished.
• After a succcessful installation you can read the ''Install from sdcard complete'' message and the receovery menu is available again.
• Select 'Reboot system now'. Alternatively you can perform a factory data reset here by choosing 'Wipe data/factory reset'
  

Kind request from users:
Please report any kind of new issues you experience after installing this update only if you've already flashed this ROM with SP Flash Tool in Firmware Upgrade mode. In rare cases a FOTA update can cause more or less serious malfunctions but that means only the update process went wrong, not a badly developed ROM. An updated stock ROM, especially related to the basic functions will not cause any new issues but will solve some of the existing ones.

Same for me. I installed the OTA Update, too. Now my phone is a brick. I am seriously raising the question to Umidigi. Do you even test your software once before you release it? Do we all have bricked Crystals now or did anyone have success with this glorious update? Umidigi, I am waiting for an official statement to this mess.

\n\n My Crystal updated today to the latest ROM.I am now unable to switch the phone on.
It is stuck in a boot loop as windows keeps beeping to say connected/disconnected.The phone is not rooted.

Hello, this afternoon 11/12/2017, I got a message telling me that a new update was available. I downloaded it and installed but now my phone does not turn on anymore. I do not understand. the phone is not rooted. What can I do? Thanks.

About 3 weeks ago I bought a Umidigital Crystal 4 / 64GB. This afternoon I was looking for updates and found the update from 23.11.17. Then I immediately downloaded the update and started the update. After the update, the Umidigi logo was briefly displayed and then the phone was dark and can not be turned on.

Unfortunately I have just read in the forum, that if the device is rooted, the update does not work :-(
Had the device because Titaniumbackup and co. rooted

Now the device can not be switched on anymore. Does anyone have a hint how I can get it back to life?

i'm italian sorry my english.
in the next firmware it would be better to fix:
1) wi-fi and LTE radio sections do not work well, weak signals
2) gps is not good, weak signal
3) Replace calendar app with a more recent and functional one
4) Replace clock app, the alarm often does not sound at preset time
5) give the opportunity for users to uninstall apps included in the firmware that does not
     use, or at least deactivate them

Do you use the stock calendar app or Googloe Calendar downloaded from the play store? They have the same icon. I suggest you to download the google one from the play store. The stock app is an old version that cannot be updated.

with this rom V1.1_20171023 the battery spends very quickly and the GPS does not run at 100%

the navigation menu is back in this as in to prior rom release. I liked it hidden away.

Yes the autofocus is better now. experiencing some of navigation issues in google maps as in the blue dot compass is not always accurate specially while driving.

\n\nUmidigi are keeping the OTA releases for mass-ready issue - these beta versions are for those who don't mind updating more often and being at the bleeding edge.

If you have a substandard camera part, then no software release is likely to fix it.

While the OS is some pretty solid piece of shit and I have no doubt that Umi will never fix that cause they don't care enough, the hardware camera is actually not that bad.
I use "Bacon Camera" and get some nice shots out of this. No zoom or autofocus issues with that one.

Just terrible ear piece, on call very output from ear piece. Tried updating the ul gain in headset under engineering mode, but no use. Absolutely terrible 4g reception in good 4g areas. Should never trust a company tha5 just copies other models in market.

Unfortunately my device starts bootlooping after a few days of use. First sign is that Google Play Music stops randomly, and if you restart, the bootloop begins.. Device boots up properly, but after few seconds it restarts. This was the same with the old software version. Concerning the GPS, this is garbage as well. It cannot get a proper fix, and if it found your position, it starts to drift away. In summary, you can't use the phone with this software. I'm sorry to say that, but it is like that. The phone itself is a nice piece of hardware. Please UMIDIGI, fix your software as soon as possible, so we can enjoy the Crystal as it is meant to be. Thank you.

I've had to flash using windows machine instead of my usual Linux box, because scatter file was not valid on last one.
So far so good, all working fine.
I'll keep you updated
