This is the SP Flash Tool release of the
V1.0_20170922 (Android 6.0.1) system software
for UMIDIGI S2
Flash tool operation is recommended for experienced users only. Do not use it if you cannot understand the whole process!
UMIDIGI S2 receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again.

Changelog:
First release for manufacturing

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SP Flash Tool
Resources:

Flashtool tutorials: UMI Forum or androidxda guide or YouTube guide (you can google a lot of other solutions and guides)

ROM: >>>>> 20170922_g20v57c2k_kw_s81.rar <<<<<
Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6757_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other components

VCOM driver: Windows 10 already automatically can install it or you can use this: MTK_Driver_Auto_Installer_SP_Drivers_20160804.exe

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMIDIGI S2 if the standard method doesn't work.
It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop
1. Connect your UMIDIGI S2 to USB.
2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.
3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.
4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

Kind request from users:
Please report any kind of new issues you experience after installing this update only if you've already flashed this ROM with SP Flash Tool in Firmware Upgrade mode. In rare cases a FOTA update can cause more or less serious malfunctions but that means only the update process went wrong, not a badly developed ROM. An updated stock ROM, especially related to the basic functions will not cause any new issues but will solve some of the existing ones.

That will be available for the second version of S2 only. The current version is compatible with Android 6.0.1 only. The current version is built with MT6757 SoC while the second version will be built with MT6757D.

Probably yes but I don't know the farther future. Anything can happen.

Sorry, but the S2 not getting Android 7 because of the Helio P20 seems unlikely. It's because there are existing UmiDigi Phones with the Helio P20 Prozessor running on Android 7, like the UmiPlus E. It should really work. Anyone has a really official link to the Page where they post that the first batch of S2 will be different (Only Umidigi Employers posting please)..

We really need an Umidigi statement here..

I will cancel my order, if they leave me hanging here..

The first version of the S2 (what you can buy currently) will be shipped with Android 6.01 and (according to our current knowledge) it will not receive Android version upgrades. You can find the explanation in this and other threads as well. The Plus E has not received Android version upgrade either.
It's about the difference between the MT6757 and MT6757V processors while both are called Helio P20.

The manufacturer does not provide custom ROMs.
