This is the SP Flash Tool release of the
V1.1_20170826 system software
for UMIDIGI Z1

Flash tool operation is recommended for experienced users only. Do not use it if you cannot understand the whole process!
UMIDIGI Z1 receives all updates automatically via FOTA method. You need this tool only in case of emergency (if you've bricked your phone), if you want to apply a clean install or if you want to clear all root access and custom recovery to make your phone able to receive FOTA updates again. Another reason can be if you experience unexpected issues after updating via FOTA.

Changelog:
  • Optimized ringtone handling
  • Optimized app background music handling

SP Flash Tool

SPFT tutorial: http://bit.ly/umifspft

Extract the .rar file before use. The scatter file (MT6797_Android_scatter.txt) is inside the extracted folder, together with the other components

VCOM driver: Windows 10 can automatically install it. Please make sure that your Windows is logged in with administrator rights and your computer has a working internet connection when first time connecting your phone.

Here's an optional solution to start the flashing process on your UMIDIGI Z1 if the standard method doesn't work.
It's especially useful if your phone is bricked or is stuck in bootloop
1. Connect your UMIDIGI Z1 to USB.
2. Start the flashing process with the Download button in the flasher app.
3. Press and keep pressed the power button of your phone until the flashing process starts (red bar appears at the bottom of the app window), then release it. In this process you have to keep the power button pressed for about 10 seconds.
4. Wait until the flashing process finishes.

Kind request from users:
Please report any kind of new issues you experience after installing this update only if you've already flashed this ROM with SP Flash Tool in Firmware Upgrade mode. In rare cases a FOTA update can cause more or less serious malfunctions but that means only the update process went wrong, not a badly developed ROM. An updated stock ROM, especially related to the basic functions will not cause any new issues but will solve some of the existing ones.

Android smartphones received the last update even 5 yeas ago are still usable, basicaly only their obsolete hardware makes serious limits. Why do you think that, if a smartphone doesn't get updates after a while, it becomes useless?

I wonder if there is functional root for umidigi z1

Getting root access with the help of Magisk Manager (+ SP Flash Tool for flashing the patched boot.img file) is somewhat functional.

Hi,
currently it's not known if this model will ever receive a new update. Nevertheless, if your phone is intact in both hardware and software, you shouldn't have such issues. Please try to flash this latest version with SP flash tool to get a clean installation of the system software.

Hi bencebacsi.
I'm writing here because I haven't found a thread reporting the problem that I'm experimenting with my Umidigi Z1.
I was in the Setting menu, in the section where is possible to set the colour of the "notification led", and setting the "red eye adjustment"...
Probably I have set something wrong and now my smartphone is not usable.
When I turn it on, I can insert my PIN and unlock the phone, but after few seconds the screen become gray and I cannot see anymore what's happening on my phone: I can feel (thanks to vibrations) that the phone is still operative but I can't see where to click because of the gray screen.
Can you please help me?
thank you in advance

L

Hi,

I am having trouble flashing to this ROM. There is no OTA update for me yet so I am on the 201707 ROM.

I am having some issues with my phone and hopefully this fixes it. Seems like the phone over heats and it goes to a black screen then it takes ages for you to be able to turn the phone on again. The phone does not seem to be very  hot and it happens after some very light usage. (sometimes just turning the camera on makes it go black).

I really like the phone and hope I don't have to send it back!

Actually getting the same error as on this youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_3ExUKH4enE around 5:10 in. (same as previous thread)

Black screen, need to reboot. Doesn't last long before it happens again.

This makes the phone unusable. Need a fix ASAP or I will need to send it back.
