I'm sure, a later update will make it possible to replace the stock launcher.

Umi should give us the option to choose between ONE stable pure android 7 ROM and their UMI OS developing ROMS. At least while UMI OS doesn't reach a mature state. I said it on other post and I say it again: UMI is ruining their (great) phones reputation with their limited, closed software. I think it isn't a coincidence that the site where I bought my phone (Gearbest) doesn't mention the UMI OS on the specifications. It says Android 7.0, nothing else. Right...

I totally agree, clean android is better than existing UMI OS ...
It is a shame for developers to have released a functional but undelivered product.

Because of the different applications in Chinese, Italian and English, UMI OS was really created VERY FAST :-(

Forget (almost) all of the bad things I said and thought!

Unfortunately, my complains remain. I have 2 paid launchers and several paid icon packs that I can't use. I'm losing money and this is a major issue to me.
Also, I've always been able to root my phones, even old ones with no custom recoveries available. I really hope root will be available in the future, otherwise it will be a big disappointment to me.
When (and if) these issues are solved, I will have no complains left (bugs exist in every ROM and they are usually solved over time, it isn't a big thing to me). Because the phone itself is great. I love the phone. I just don't like the OS.

Any updates when the new ROM will be released? Hopefully with the launcher change option (clean android)?
UMI os have so many bugs that it really needs to be fixed ASAP!

Unfortunately isn't possible as umi OS is secured.

In the end UMI OS is not so bad, but I'm wondering why some application are not compliant to my UMIDIGI S

I just bought an S, but what is it that is not good on the standard launcher and for what reason would an Android launcher be better?
I only have 3 issues:
- the screen protector that came included with the phone is too narrow??
- the phone doesn't seem to detect any 5Ghz wifi network, only 2G4
- how can I disable the crap that shows on one of the homescreens?? (news etc)

For the rest it looks like everything works ok
