This guide is about how to repair your lost IMEI numbers with MediaTek SN Writer tool. This tool is compatible only with MTK SoC based devices, like MT6592, MT6752, MT6753, MT6735, MT6755 etc.

You might lose your IMEI numbers by accidentally formatting the flash chip or by installing an incompatible ROM.

What you need:
  • VCOM drivers: Windows 10 can automatically install it. Please make sure that your Windows is logged in with administrator rights and your computer has a working internet connection when first time connecting your phone.
  • The same version of SP Flash Tool compatible STOCK ROM, that you have installed on your phone downloaded on your PC - Find your device here: http://bit.ly/UmidigiROM

Let's get started step by step (the driver installation process will be skipped in this tutorial)
You have to power off your phone before Step 10.!

1. Extract and open the folder of SN Writer, then open the application by double clicking SN_Writer.exe.
1_appfolder.png

2. Set ComPort to USB VCOM and Target Type to Smart Phone (as it's shown on the picture below).
2 main_screen.png
Also open the Option menu and uncheck TEE Support if that's present and enabled.

3. Click on the System Config button, then select all items that you can see checked below.
3_sysconfig.jpg

4. Load the Modem_1 database file (click on MD1_DB button) located in the stock firmware folder.
4_modem1.jpg
Note: You have to use the database files of the same version of ROM you have installed on your phone!

5. Load the AP database file (click on AP_DB button)
5_apdb.jpg
Select the file without 'ENUM' at the end if you have two similar files.

6. Click on Save button.

7. Enable AutoGen as shown on the picture below. (BT and Wifi addresses will be auto generated)
7 autogen.png

8. Click on Start button.

9. In the pop-up window set your original(!) IMEI_1 and IMEI_2 numbers, then click OK.
7_scandata.jpg

10.  Connect your (powered off) phone to USB. - You need or don't need to press any button while connecting, depending on your model. Only one configuration will work! You have to apply the same method that's needed for SP Falsh Tool as well. In most cases you don't have to and musn't press any button.
The writing process will start automatically while your phone is switching into META mode.
10 flashing_stuck.png
NOTE: If the process gets stuck at this point what the screenshot shows above (Start searching kernel...), disconnect the USB cable for a few seconds, then reconnect it and the process will continue.

11. After the writing process finished, you get the following screen, reporting the successful process, and your phone automatically switches into charging mode.
9_finish.png
Now you are DONE and may power on your phone.
Congratulations!

In the case of bad connection, not properly installed drivers, you loaded incompatible DB files or if something other trouble happens, you get the following screen.
99_fail.png
Check your USB cable, use another USB port, when the phone switched to META mode, check your Windows device manager to see if a new serial port is correctly installed.
At some devices (UMi eMAX for example) the NVRAM partition is write protected. In that case you have to format the NVRAM partition or the whole flash chip to be able to use this tool.

After reboot your phone, check the new IMEI numbers by dialing *#06#

All the screenshots are captured and the guide is written by me for UMI users. Unauthorized copy of this content is prohibited. Please let me know if you find errors or missing info.
Thank you, bencebacsi

I have a UMIDIGI F1 since I was on the market and I was very satisfied, I put TWRP ROOT and everything like silk until ..... in the July update I could not flash any of the existing TWRP so far and in one of those Attempts appeared to me the warning or whatever in violent red and with parts in Chinese (attached a couple of screen copy) the serious thing is that NVRAM began to give problems and has failed to recognize IMEI even having "recovered" them with tools such as SN Writer and others based on META.
Is there anyone who has happened to you and in that case what was the remedy ?.
Or maybe someone could provide me with the NVRAM folder that I would already update my IMEIs and MAC

Worked fine for me. Have UMI Z and erased my IMEI when trying to flash latest NOUGAT update, which doesn't work for me (puts phone in bootloop). Downgraded back to V7.01_20170601 ROM and used tool to restore my IMEI numbers. Only thing is that I didn't select the Wifi address on page 3 because it wouldn't autogenerate a number. As my wifi was working perfectly I decided not to change what was in the phone, and everything worked out.

Hi, i tried also to connect the phone 2 time's with battery plug, this time come another 2 issue,  ...

The connection seems to be okay now, but the loaded DB files might be incompatible for some reason. There are 3 different SPFT ROMs available in the ROM section. I suggest you to try all of them if needed.

My Umi Super can't connect to the SN Writer Tool the same as in the Flashtool, in the flashtool i plug it off without pressing anything and the flashtool detects it and start working, but when i plug it that way with the SN Writer tool, it don't detect it cause my phone enters in charging mode, i've tried connecting it with volume + but can't make it work.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Second i follow the same step for SPtools to gain in META mode (remove battery, waiting and plug again ) but the process always fail with error message.

Unfortunately, your attached pics cannot be downloaded. You shouldn't have 2 pcs. APDB files. One of them might be in the ROM folder mistakenly. Which ROM do you use?

Do you have missing or null (all zero) IMEI numbers? As I've written, this tool is not able to replace working IMEIs.

Them IMEI took  from the box of Umi Iron, using the files in ROM Y900_UMI_V1.7_20151020_1711 that you provided in the forum, inside there are 2 APDB:
APDB_MT6735_S01_L1.MP3_W15.40
APDB_MT6735_S01_L1.MP3_W15.40_ENUM

I lost all 2 imeis after flashing iron to erase the privacy password malware.

The second error message report:

EnterAPMetaMode() : MetaResult = Default_Fail

The v1.7 is a beta release. Use the v1.5 instead. That's okay if you use your original IMEI numbers, but have you lost them in your phone?
