Yes, an eMax mini for €65 is definitely the best deal - maybe I'll buy one for my wife. On the other hand, I wouldn't buy a new phone that offers less performance than my existing one but would rather wait for a later, higher performance device. Gossips say that, the Iron Pro will be a such one but that model is not even listed in the forum yet.

Edited by plasticbomb1986 at 2015-10-11 06:26 \n\nActually this is the way, how UMI can get more prestige. They sucked with MTK SoCs, they have to bring out some phone with good supported SoC, if they wanna be on the surface. AND eMax Mini is can be the first on this way. (I heard about the Snapdragon 810 heat problems, but its happen everywhere.) I thought, when i saw the eMax Lollipo problem, they is the best way, how they can correct it, get CM on their phone.
Yeah, M6752 is a little bit stronger than it had to be, as a mid way SoC its great. (Antutu 31k score in KitKat and 45k in Lollipop is the evidence of it, but or me, nem enough if a SoC is strong.9. For me the support is so inportant too! I have an S2, i bought it 2011 Aug, and it have 5.1.1 today, because this is a great, strongphone with great support from the cummunity. Its far away better in camera (real 8Mpixel great quality), if you get one, setup it, flash CM12.1, and you just have to use, it will work in your hand. Anytime. But the cpu is already weak today (2 core exynos4410 on 1,2 GHz), next to a phablet its so small (4,3"), but the colors of the screen just awesame (Amoled), and i miss that from eMax. On eMax, if u use the screen longer then a few minute, the juice just falling as hell, on S2 because of the Amoled, its so slower.

So my favorite phone can be this:

5-5,5 inch Amoled screen
Strong 8 core CPU (Exynos, Snapdragon)
Strong GPU (Andreno 405+, Mali T760 MP4+)
2GB+ RAM
3000+ MAh battery
8Mpixel + Real great quality camera on rear side, front side... dosent matter.
16+ GB Storage
LTE
Dual SIM (if its possible on Dual Active mode)
MicroSD card slot
A clear style, thin edge aroung the screen. Hardware camera button, hardware navigation buttons.
Good support, always the newest android on it. (like Google phones).

Well, its a dream. I thought, Nexus 6 is my phone, but it has some problem compared with eMax. Maybe Nexus 6P, but first, i wanna try eMax Mini.

Haha, to be honest, I planned to tell my arguments here about performance and support, but from that point where you stated that (with different words), your S2 has better quality screen than the eMax, I could take you seriously, sorry. If something can't display correct colors, than those old AMOLED screens but the one of UMI eMax is superb and a much more advanced technology.

HM. I guess maybe i used the wrong words. I like those colors more better, than the eMax IPS colors. Its personal thing, i know in this case, technically eMax IPS better than that. But i like far away more those colors. Anything else what u gonna say about what i said?

Unfortunately that doesn't help. The kernel (as one binary file) can be extracted from the boot.img, but the kernel itself can not be decompiled. Reverse engineering is not possible with the kernel. Developers need the original source code to make changes.

Yeah.. I am kind of catching onto what you have to say.. Maybe all I can do is wait till UMI comes out with the 5.1.1 ROM, and extract the kernel? Or would the 4.4.4 kernel theoretically work?

EDIT: Well what do you know, ec8or has found a porting guide to 5.1.1  for the MT6572. (see OP)

I've been reading the tutorial, and it looks like it is universal.. I might be able to pull out the kernel from another 5.1.1 rom I found through my web surfing, I am gonna give it a try, flash the phone, and cross my fingers hoping I don't brick it.

EDIT: My question is tho, Can you run a MT6572 rom on the Umi Emax? I was reading about the TCL M2M (Or whatever its called) and that was another question asked... I think it works?

I remember reading it was just for MT65xx based SoC. Check twice, double check twice. Don't brick you phone pls.
