I thank you for your reply.  I have now removed the factory screen protector and it is still doing it on my new phone.  I did also buy the glass screen protector so I will try that and see what happens :-(

Are you UMI staff member?

Thanks Hally

Hi, hally. I'm a moderator here but situated in Australia, so I am only in contact with UMI people sporadically.

If it doesn't work without the screen protector then I don't think that glass protector will improve it. But let me know how you go. I'll see of I can get some other things to try for you.

I found that it becomes less frequent over time. When I first got my emax I had this issue about three times a day (solved by turning off my screen and rubbing it on my shirt). At this time I probably get it ~3 times a week. I imagine this had to do with charge uniformity across the display. As time passes, the display becomes more "balanced" per-se and ghost touches become much less frequent. Just a hypothesis. Also note, the first day I had my emax, ghost touches happened a LOT. As previously stated, now it is pretty uncommon.

Hi again everyone and thanks for all your input so far.  I have to admit to really liking the Emax a lot but this issue is having a real effect.  I did try applying the glass screen protector but as gruffles stated it did nothing to improve my situation.

Clone Tekboy interesting comments from you too about it becoming less frequent with time and rubbing the shirt trick I will try that too. bencebacsi thanks for your interesting comments also, I would love for it to just go away lol as it would be nice to use this phone as normal.

gruffles if you can come up with any other suggestions it would be greatly appreciated as I am in UK it would cost me a fortune to return this unit to Banggood so that really aint an option for me.

Thanks again all Hally

Hi guys

Well I have now removed the glass screen protector as it appeared to make the whole situation worse for me.

Hi hally. I've just heard back that UMI are working on a fix for this which should be included in the next rom update.

Hopefully it starts disappearing as clone_tekboy experienced. Keep us posted.

Cheers,
Gruffles

The ghost touch problem is NOT a software related issue! How could it be solved in the next ROM up ...

Hi bencebacsi. Here is your quote.  from my chat with UMI:
> eMAX ghost touch issues, we dont have solution yet, trying to figure out the bug and fix from next frimware upgrade

Please don't accuse me of lying again. I am only ever reporting back what I know.

Hi bencebacsi.

I understand UMI is a brand and I would've thought it was fairly obvious that I was talking to a person. This message came from someone at UMI who works on the ROM updates for their products. I can only pass on the message that was given to me.

I'm not in a position to pm personal contact details for anyone, as no one should be.

I think the fact that they are looking into it and trying to find a fix should be a positive thing, as there are many other companies that tend to ignore issues like this. It may possibly result in them coming back and saying, "well, we tried but it seems there is a hardware fault which can't be fixed by firmware changes".

How about we give them a chance to look into it?
