I'm sorry but the UMi MAX will probably not receive further updates.
Despite the very long time tes ...

"the voltage regulator of your phone can be defective (short inside the chip) too, causing unexpected battery drainage and possibly other bugs due to the unstable power supply."
So hundreds of phones have defective chips, right? Cause it seems Umi Max phones aren't work correctly for most of us. In this case I think you should do something to solve this, else people will not trust you anymore. I own this phone for six months but I had the worst experience with a phone. And personally, $160 are really hard to earn. It's a very big disappointment, I'm sorry.

And, oh, if you know Android 7.0 is bad coded, why you don't upgrade to 7.1.1 or 7.1.2?

I had same problem with this (I downgraded to Android 6 for a while), and I didn't use Bluetooth or location (because I don't need them) and the battery draining is the same. You can check previous posts to see pics.

A statement that has no evidence, I'm afraid, and I spoke conditionally. Please turn off all notifications on your phone and run the PCMark Work 2.0 battery test. Let me see your result. On my device the 8-hour result is definitely not bad.
Android 7.1.x kernel is not issued by MediaTek. Even the newest models can be released with 7.0 only, at the moment. The Helio X27 is the only exception.

As the admin said, Umi will not update this device anymore. So, if you don't want to go back to 6, then you should acknowledge the fact that they will not help us, Max users, and deal with the issues of 7. I got back to 6 and I'm sticking with it until I replace this over-rated phone.

Without any apparent reason, today battery life is WAY better.
I'm still at 65% after one hour and half of screen time.
Not awesome but still acceptable.

I don't feel to blame Umi, and i don't know how much phone are hit by this problem (we are always the same people here, talking about it) and, you know, on the forum you can find only people who's having problems, not people who is fully happy of their devices.

In any case, I had to admit that I expected more from this phone.

My back is full of scratches and I can see dust under my screen (I mean, between display and glass), dust make front camera quite useless and back camera will probably "die" soon for the same problem.

After all that I must say that phone is quite fast for the hardware it owns, and this is good.

Why I making something like a review right now? I don't know. I just want to write my overral impression about MAX.

Ok, I did it and guess what? I got ~9h as results of this test.
For screen-on-time it's very good, but what about standby? After maximum 30h for standby time (without Wi-Fi, Bluetooth on or notifications activate) the phone is dead. You said this is a 2-days battery for somebody who use this phone, I guess stand-by time should be longer than 30h, right?

Probably an app (or more) is using the battery in the background on your phone. Here is my standby time result with this latest update:

I can reach about one day more with Marshmallow, that's true.

I keep only WhatsApp and SwiftKey keyboard in background (from the Background apps settings).. I will try to close them and to test again, to see if there is any major difference. Thanks!

But what about UMI OS? Will this phone get any UMI OS update? I think it will be fine.

I think the MAX won't receive a UMI OS update and if you knew how it works now, you wouldn't desire it.
