I have also suffered from inconsistent GPS positioning, and could see myself jumping up and down the road several hundred meters at a time without actually moving.

However, today I installed the TopNTP app (which I found on another forum), and since then according to GPS Status, I can lock onto about 8 out of 18 satellites within 30 seconds. Now when I look at Google Maps, I am rock solid and shown in my exact correct position.

I have to say that this is in the outdoors, and once inside the house, the sats are dropped, but my old TomTom did this as well.

Give it a try, you have nothing to lose !

My compass now also works accurately, after I realised that I needed to calibrate it whilst it was in a horizontal position, not vertical, as that is how I hold it when looking at the compass !

Further to my previous post above.

Although much better now, my gps fix still occasionally was a bit inconsistent. So I downloaded the MTK Engineering Mode app.

Now if I go into this, and select MTK Settings, then the Location Tab, and select the YGPS option. I then get a fix on 6+ sats out of 20 within 10 secs, and 12+ sats within 30 seconds, consistently.

It would be interesting if everybody who is struggling to get gps fixes could try this test out, and then we may have a better idea if this is hardware or software related.

To me, it looks as though this problem is software related.

This is a common problem with MTK proc. With my Lenovo i can get fix with all the software available, GPS Fix, Uncle, MTK epo etc, but in navigation map no exception Gps loose the signal. So my Crystal when will arrived I'll send back to GB store.. BThis is not a good thing for UmiDigi.

Hi. I bought a 64GB Crystal some weeks ago and I swear I am really trying to love it, but sometimes it's hard to do it...

I like how it looks, the big 5,5" screen with no top border with a body as the same size a 5,2" my old cellphone, a great color and brightness screen, an acceptable battery capacity and charging time, the fast and accurate fingerprint reader, the sufficient storage capacity at this moment with 64GB, even the package box is elegant if compared with some actually top models from top brands and... The problems begins later these good feelings about:

- It starts with a poooooor wireless connection. I live in a big house and all phones I had before, or my wife, friends and people that visited me, we could use my home Wi-Fi without problems at any part of the building, until now. My Umidigi Crystal cannot reaches my Wi-Fi connection at half of my entire house. Unuseful.

- Bluetooth connection can be worst! Tested with a new Bluetooth headset with cellphone at pants' pocket with less than a meter far from it, it failed to maintain the music running smoothly, many cracks and interruptions later it also disconnected many times. And I really tried to believe the headset was the problem, but, I had more problems with my Bluetooth connection that proves me I was wrong. I have a smartwatch I always used it since my last 2 cellphones without problems, now it connects and disconnects hundred times a day and lost almost all notifications being an unuseful smartwatch, it's only a beautiful and expensive wristwatch to see the clock, now... What lets us with next problem:

- Notifications at this cellphone makes me crazy! Sometimes it be quiet, and when screen is unlocked it starts to ring each notification was received, all together in sequence with no pauses! And when I tried to dismiss some notification listed swiping to the side, it freezes for many seconds as it was a HEAVY WORK to process like a 3D game with some complexes math to calculate, but it's only a notification dismiss... I cannot believe it's from a weak hardware cause my last cellphone with poor specs was so smoothly to do these simple things, appears to be software failure...

- Google Maps doesn't work to navigate at this cellphone, simple that. It don't enter at 3D navigation mode, and also don't change my direction instructions from the first "turn right there" for example or something else, as we never attempted to get out from start local, next steps aren't displayed and the address where the navigation begins is locked at map, displaying only the real position point at a 2D map with false location name (where we started to navigate) and no directions to follow. And many times GPS connection is lost, leaving us in trouble when we don't know the neighborhood, cause it put the location point so far from we really are, and takes many time to correct position again.

- Camera's autofocus is a boring waste of time. It's so hard to read a QRCode for example, cause focus not fix when have to do it, stays changing focus forever... Flash is a joke, 2m far from the object to be captured, is as we don't use it...

Well, unfortunately, I have more to complain that to love, but I know many of these problems can be solved with software corrections. I hope Umidigi provide us some of these corrections ASAP cause it's a cellphone that has all to be better than many others, with a good (not greatest at all, but good) hardware, with cheap price and good looking.

If I discover or remember some another problem I'll be back here.
